Trash It! ReviewEfficient and Fast - Version: 3.6.1, 8/21/2009 10:59AM PST

Three years of no fail emptying trash items claiming to be in use, or ....... This is definitely one of my favorite COMFORT utilities. It is because of this, I have no problem clicking the DONATE button periodically) to encourage continued product maintenance.

Tried to delete permission corrupted files on TC since montha, read in uncountable forums, no chance (not even with terminal, not as root-user, no way. Files have been blocked completely).

This tool killed these files and folders with ease. STUNNING !

As one of the first users of trash it! way back when, I came to love this little script from the get-go. Files in the trash that the system still thinks are 'in use' get deleted, files or folders with permissions locked up so tight simply get moved to the 'can' and then deleted, and when I have a previous system folder (sent to the trashcan after an archive and install), trash it removes all 10 billion files (overstating for effect) without me having to sit by the computer to respond to the annoying 'this file can't be deleted, blah blah blah, as trash it will just do it while I do other things.

As for the last poster who said he needed to sign up to download, I just clicked on the 'Download' link here at VT.com and it worked fine.

I'm a staunch supporter of any *good* freeware developer, especially a company that produces high-quality items, and if NNSW continues doing that, I will continue rating their software on the merits, quality, price (none!), and support. The latter is probably the biggest factor that separates NNSW from other programmers I've dealt with, and they get an A+ in my book.

Like plaintiger, I was surprised by a need to signup to download a script file. Unlike plaintiger, when I saw this, I backtracked and read all the comments before signing up. Glad I did- it appears that this script doesn't work properly anway!

Tried "Trash It" on my G4 Mac. It changedmy permissions, did not delete the file and after I used it, Super Duper would not load. I'm scared to try it again.

Trash It! Troubleshooting Reportwhat a fiasco - Version: 3.6.1, 8/17/2006 11:57AM PST

i click the link here at VT to download Trash It!, and am taken to a page that wants me to log in to a bulletin board system. this is annoying and asking a lot of a would-be user, but i want the file, so i register (thereby opening my email address to yet *another* source of spam). i get my confirmation email and confirm my intention to register. then i log in to the board. i click the "Downloads" link. i click "Main Scripts." i click "Trash It!" (the entry for which shows its last update as having taken place in August of 2003). i click "Download Now!" at the bottom of the page. and the result of all this work is that i'm logged out of the bulletin board system. no download has taken place (i've checked my downloads folder). nothing at all of any value to me has taken place. and something of value - my time - has been taken from me. this is not my idea of cool.

I just tried This app, and it did absolutely nothing. Well, the window did open, and I chose "just delete it" and clicked OK, but then NOTHING happened. My activity monitor showed the app was not responding, and I had to force quit. I tried it again with the same result. Then I used the installer, but there was no instruction as to how to use the script to empty the trash, so I uninstalled it. I'm using OS X 10.4.7
