AbiWord ReviewBuggy but useful in a pinch - Version: 2.4.5, 3/18/2008 12:11PM PST

mojo_guzzi

I downloaded AbiWord when I discovered that an important document was emailed to me in the wrong format (Wordperfect instead of Word) and I needed to have it in the proper format immediately so I could edit it and print it out. Word would not allow me to open the file in any way, other than as a text file with a bunch of code garbage that would have taken hours to edit out.

Abiword opened it, but would not allow me to make any corrections. I was, however, able to save it as a Word file, and work with it in Word as needed. It saved my butt and I am grateful. It's a good little program to have as a complement to a real word processing program, even if it is buggy.

I really want to like this program, but every time I use it, the.png files used for the toolbar graphics are bit mapped! It looks like Windoze '98 all over again.

Surely this could be fixed.
