Product Description:

Share My Desktop (SMD) is a very simple, one-click tool to initiate a VNC server. SMD makes sharing your desktop with someone across the internet very easy -- just click one button! SMD was developed as a tool to offer better support from Tech Support staff. SMD can be installed on client systems, so if the client needs assistance, they can call the Tech Support staff, initiate the VNC server, and give the Tech Support staff the connection information. When the Tech Support staff are able to share the client's screen, they can SHOW the client what they need to do to fix a problem, rather than try to guide them by voice alone. Great for remote administration also.

What's new in this version:

Preferences are now persistent
Added a window to install and manage a system-wide VNC server
Added a startup item for the system-wide VNC server
Fixed a bug that would cause the Classic version of the Apple System Profiler to launch

a fantastic app when the bugs are squashed. As previously mentioned, preference changes are not persistant. Also, it forgets my user-specified password after a while and I have to stop and restart sharing for it to work.

to get VNC working in X. I set it up on my G4 iMac, and tried connecting from another mac with every "client" on versiontracker, including Chicken of the VNC. Every one shows a large window with smeared/blurred images of the iMac desktop displayed in miniature in all 4 quadrants of the screen; plus it takes FOREVER to update over a 56k modem, which was never a problem with VNC under OS 9 or with Timbuktu in OS 9. Any suggestions?
