i wouldn't use Zoe as my primary email client, but it is superior at searching through tremendous volumes of archived emails. I use it whenever I need to get at something that isn't recent. It will search through 10,000s of emails with relevant results in seconds, something which Mail, Tbird, Gyaz, and Outlook cannot do.

The new decoders are a nice touch.

ZOE ReviewSo how... - Version: 0.6.2, 12/28/2004 03:26PM PST

...do you filter spam? Zoe seems to raid my server mail box before my other e-mail clients and filters have a chance to get at the messages, and indescriminately grabs everything, including spam. That doesn't make it very useful to me, but I suppose spammers might like the thought that Zoe users will get their messages...

I have tried Zoe; for over a year. Zoe's publisher does not list Safari as supported so...it IS NOT SUPPORTED!

Yes, it kinda works with Safari but the screen updates irregularly and getting mail does not always result in expected behavior.

Review the software, not my review.

the first time i tried to use zoe, i wasted an entire day trying to figure out how to set it up and what to do with it. not anymore. with the "extras" included (install them all!) and a click on the import button in the zoe accounts preferences, it intergrates with Apple Mail without me needing to do much of anything. it's pretty cool to play with and is a great way to get link happy with email without the gmail creepiness.

my one gripe is that it's good at searching, but not so good at sorting. like if you find all the mail from a particular sender, it puts it in a list from older to newer, without any obvious way to reverse the order the other way 'round as newer to older.

This is (almost) perfect for Spymac's email service except (sorry to harp) for the lack of Safari support.

ZOE CommentaryGmail on your desktop? - Version: 0.5.7, 4/11/2004 11:54AM PST

If Gmail (Google Mail) takes off, perhaps Zoe should get a second look. It does basically the same thing on your desk where you can have all the disk space you want, and no one will be snooping through your email trying to figure out what you might buy if the right advertisement was flashed.

i played with Zoe back around v.0.2, but didn't get hooked. I think i'd rather have the best of both worlds: able to file email in folders as well as being able to search it. An excellent search engine would make it less pressing to file everything however, which would be a relief, though.

Love the concept but sure would like to see Safari supported. Its not like Safari is the major Mac browser (or anything).

Downloaded 0.5.5 and it works fine. It is rare that I come across such an innovative and usefull application.

Razzeldazzle, about your report that Zoe damaged your filesystem - sounds like a 'Post hoc ergo propter hoc' argument to me. You sure it was Zoe that caused the problem?
