Adaptec score a big fat zero - Version: 1.0b1, 3/3/2004 08:03PM PST

Adaptec have consistently dropped the ball since the release of OS-X. This driver for the 1480 has been in "initial beta" for TWO YEARS, with no improvement or final release- or even word from Adaptec that they are interested in continuing development, despite the fact that this is still a "currently shipping" product. Adaptec do not return emails asking for support, despite me having a duly registered product along with serial number. Their support for PCI based SCSI cards is little better, with companies like Dantz recommending Mac users steer clear of Adaptec products in favour of ATTO. Neither my 1480 or my PCI 2906 SCSI cards will recognise tape drives under Retrospect 6 / OS-X 10.3.2. It's just one of those sad cases of a company with no interest in its Mac market, but without the guts to say so.
Still no full…

version with hot-swapability! Get errors burning to Yamaha CRW4416, but this might be the burner's fault, since the 1480 works with scanners and a SCSI zip drive. However since burning CDs on my portable mac was what I bought the card for, not working with my burner and not being hot swapable are both serious deficiencies. Any word on when a new version will come out that rectifies these problems?
and now with VueScan and SCSI Dimage Scan Speed F-2800 I am able to scan 35mm slides without rebbooting in 10.2... Thanks to TIGER
