Does what it says. An elegant piece of software that makes printing selected text and pics easy. Good to have a date stamp and URL added to the print out. Thanks.
Eliminating Rare NilObjectException Message - Version: 4.0, 7/12/2005 03:52PM PST

Out of all the registered users of PrintMagic 4.0, I've received 2 reports of this error message, and within a couple of hours I was able to provide a solution for them.
To date, not a single user of the demo version has reported a problem -- of any type -- to me. I truly don't understand why a user that experiences a problem would post this info without first at least notifying the developer to verify the program is responsible for the problem and to see if there is a workaround/fix for the issue.
I don't regularly check VT's pages, as user's should be contacting product support to report/verify a problem and to get any existing issue resolved. If BIG77 or anyone else has a problem of any type with PrintMagic, I'd be happy to work with them to quickly resolve it.
Product support for PrintMagic is available at: printmagicx@macease.com
Thank you.

Can't review past that since I can't get it to work, though I was unimpressed with the previous incarnations of it: I can just drag and drop into text edit or preview. But willing to give it another shot if I could get that far.

When I first got PrintMagic X, it turned out that my copy was an older version, included in Allume's Ten for X Volume 1.
While I received free updates to all other programs, and even free upgrades for some, I was told that if I wanted the newest version of PrintMagic X I had to pay an upgrade fee. Given that I had not even used my newly purchased copy of PrintMagic, I decided to do without this program.
In the past I also experienced some disappointment with support for either WebPrint Plus 3.1 or SimpleText Enhancer 3.0 (under OS 9). I don't remember which of the 2 was the one I asked support for, since it was a long time ago.
Needless to say, I have not purchased any upgrades and don't intend to do so in the future.
Perhaps the current Macease is amazing, but my money has gone -and will go- elsewhere.
I wish someone had warned me before making my purchase. As always, YMMV.

It's a shame a user posts such a negative comment (and rating) when it's completely incorrect.
First of all, PrintMagic isn't capable of making his info disappear. It's standard operating procedure for the OS to delete highlighted text in a text entry field if the user hits the space bar or types a character (this user may not have realized he did this, but I expect this is what happened) -- this has nothing to do with PrintMagic and would occur whether or not PrintMagic was on his computer! Many if not most programs let accidentally deleted material be recovered by typing Commnad-z, but again this has nothing to do with PrintMagic.
The other items this user is complaining about are not because of problems with PrintMagic but rather because he failed to follow the incredibly simple (at least for most users) instructions for using PrintMagic. In any case, if this user had emailed me for technical support, his "issues" would have quickly been resolved.
BTW, PrintMagic works fine with Apple's Mail app, as well as with most other programs. I suggest you download the free, fully functional demo so you can see for yourself how useful PrintMagic is and how well it works. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions about PrintMagic.

...it made my e-mail message disappear completely. I got v 1.2 with Ten for X a year or two ago and hadn't had much luck when I tried to use it in the past. When I tried to launch it today, it said that it cannot run without being in it's original folder, which it was. I found no help at MacEase.com so I decided to try the 3.5 Demo. It launched ok, but when I tried to print the selected text in an e-mail message (Mail.app), it said that it must not be compatible with that application. And my message disappeared completely, nowhere to be found anywhere on the hard drive. Not in Mail's trash. Not in the system trash. Not in any of PrintMagic's files. Nowhere. So I tried using PM to print the message from the server using OW 5. Nope, not compatible with OW either. At least this time it didn't lose my message. As far as I can tell, PM is a nuisance at best and a danger to the safety of my files at worst. It's safe to say that I will NEVER try any future version of PM, or any other MacEase software again. I'd rather waste paper and ink than lose files.
For what it's worth, I'm running 10.3.5 on a 1.25 GHz G4 iMac with 2 GB RAM.

is exceedingly useful for just about everyone. I had put off sending in my shareware fee because the app could not be hidden. Well, I guess now it's time. I really wish the 3 applications, iPrint, PrintMagic and WebPrint Plus could have similar names with suffixes (i.e., Lite, Standard and Pro), as it took a little time to realize they were all the same app with different feature levels. A comparison is available on the developer web page, and this proved invaluable for making the decision as to which version to go with. I was intrigued with WebPrint Plus and its ability to print non-contiguous text selections but, alas, hiding of the app is not available in that. I went with PrintMagic over iPrint, because you can print clipping files and add notes. A contextual menu for some functions would make the app even better... and a better icon.
The note issue…

I had with 800X600 resolution on my 15" iMac screen has been fixed with this update. As I mentioned to the author, this program has saved me a lot of ink with my Epson 777 printer. Even before this issue was fixed, the program was worth having. If your tired of wasting ink on printouts of entire web pages when all you want is a part of the page printed, then you should have this. This quick fix deserves an adjustment to my rating.
