Product Description:

Haxial TextEdit is a simple, fast and free editor for Unicode plain text files (".txt" files). It can also open non-Unicode plain text files. It includes a Find/Replace function, and a menu for quick access to your favorite documents. The user interface is customizable with skins/schemes.

What's new in this version:

 • Added "Include Unicode Marker" option in File menu so you can now save files with or without the unicode marker, which is useful when dealing with old programs that cannot handle a unicode marker being present. A unicode marker identifies the file as a unicode file.
 • Added "MS Windows Line Endings" option in File menu if you need the file to be compatible with MS Windows or DOS programs that cannot handle unix-style line endings (unix-style is the default for Haxial).
 • Added "Revert To Saved" command to revert the document to the last saved version.
 • Added "Move To Trash" command to discard changes and move the file to the Trash / Recycle Bin.
 • You can now drag & drop files into the panel-buttons area of a window to open the file(s) in that window.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

 • Mac OS X 10.3
 • Mac OS X 10.2
 • Mac OS X 10.1
 • Mac OS X 10.0
 • Mac OS Classic

Haxial TextEdit CommentaryBring Back the Windows Format - Version: 1.700, 11/26/2004 01:49PM PST

This is the first upgrade I installed since 1.450 and I uninstalled it after opening the first file in it. The loss of writing to the windows or mac or unicode format was the reason I used this program. While it still does the job well for unicode, the loss of the ability to read or save files in any of the three formats in any platform was what really attracted me to this product.

Luckly we have 1450 backed up and I went back to it. Thanks for making such a great program, but could you leave the old versions up (at least 1450)?

Argy1, if you'd
read
the 'Generic Documentation.pdf' included with HT, you'd find that you can create a 'Appearances' folder in the 'Haxial TextEdit1630-Mac' folder, then go here: http://www.customize.org/list/haxial and download either of these: 'Mac OS X 10.3.4' or 'Mac OSexy 10.3', put them in the 'Appearances' folder, pick it in the 'Settings' menu item, and have your Aqua theme and eat it too. (They even mention themes in the Product Description here.) It might be easier if they included them both with the archive... (hint)

I do think it would be nice to have the
option
of turning off the menu-in-window-title-bar in the Settings (? should be
Preferences
for us Mac types ?) menu item, but the program is great enough for me to live with it.

Then again, would be nice to turn it (menu-in-window-title-bar) on occasionally in other Mac apps (as part of Mac GUI), much as I hate WinDoze™. :-)
