Product Description:

The EMI 2|6 Firmware Loader, as the name indicates, automatically loads the EMI 2|6 Firmware into the EMI 2|6 during startup of your computer. The firmware will be kept in the EMI 2|6 as long as it is connected and powered.

Once the firmware is loaded, the EMI 2|6 is available under Mac OS X using Mac OS X's built-in USB Audio Driver. Open the control panel "System Preferences > Sound" to choose the EMI 2|6 as the main system output. All signals, e.g. from iTunes, will then be played back via Channel 1 and 2 of the EMI 2|6.

EMI 2|6 Firmware Loader CommentarySmity as i… - Version: Update, 4/20/2002 03:30PM PST

understand it, OSX audio input is auto setting by default, plug in a usb audio device and that is automatically set as your default input. If i'm not mistaken, this can also be controlled by the app your using if the dev had the sense to include that feature, i know that in the Spark LE software i use that feature is included, i can switch between my imic usb audio or the built in controller of my iMac via the softwares prefs. And yes OSX is a work in progress, they had to beat the MS XP release date from a marketing/business standpoint so that people would know that there actually is a BETTER alternative out there, if not all these folks who are plunking down there $ on imacs right now would probably have spending it on Dells or what have you just because it offers "the most advanced/stable/user friendly OS in the world" but you would be a fool to jump ship and go to Windoze, have seen totally dedicated PC audio workstations in the past, unstable, unreliable, flaky, and hard to set up. OSX when all is said and done is going to be a audio/video dream. So if for the time being you have to boot back into os9 to get stuff done do it, patience will pay off big time in the end !!!!
