Jasmine ReviewWhere to sart.. or END I should say... - Version: 1.7.3, 11/18/2003 08:52AM PST

OK, I guess I should start here... I get about 10 seconds of viewing "pleasure" if you call it that... but in that few seconds... man is this an ugly looking application.... Purple and Yellow technicolor vomit all over my screen! I thought for a second... Did I accidentally start up KDX or something!

Ten seconds later (if that much) this application crashed...

Started Jasmine again... 8 seconds later... CRASH!

Started Jasmine again... 5 seconds later... CRASH!

Started Jasmine again... 2 seconds later... CRASH!

This application has arificial intelligence, AMAZING!!!!! It gets increasingly faster (by roughly 3 seconds) the more you open it.... too bad it gets faster at CRASHING! Pretty soon the application will just inform me not to even bother trying to start it and that it will unexpectedly quit on it's own if I try. I wonder if they can implement a feature to make it phone me at home ahead of time so I don't even bother opening it.

Put Jasmine into trash, EMPTIED! Back to SoundStudio !!

Oh, I had the exact same experience with the previous few releases as well.

The demo unexpectedly quits as soon as I try to close the "A few words from Jasmine ..." window.

it's already way better (and cheaper) than those cassette four tracks we had to use fifteen years ago, but it's still a long way from something like pro-tools free in os9. looking forward to seeing where this goes. hope there is some affordable audio editing/recording coming to the osx soon, it's a desert for those of us on a budget.

scott, your comments are within reason, but meanwhile we're still waiting for fretpet for osx...

well-taken, webman2k. I am probably too distracted by image, being a designer, and I ought to give this program another chance. However, what about the nasty bugs I encountered? Are you, webman2k, actually able to save and reload files? Do you find a .56 file-extensions useful? I would like to understand how users of this application manage to suppress what must be annoyances to almost anyone with eyeballs. As the author of a music shareware program myself I find it very hard to understand how years can be spent without adding a little flair and polish to something which is so powerful underneath. This may be a great program, but to be a great Mac OS X program will take a bit more effort.

I don't think this program was designed for "serious" use. Does it follow standard Mac GUI? no. But, I have to say, this is the easiest to use multitrack recorder for Mac OS X. It has only a few features, which I prefer, because I hate complicated programs. It might not look all bubbly, but once you learn the few keyboard shortcuts - using the program is a snap. Add simple effects (reverb and the like) and you've got a five star app! There is no easier to use multitrack recorder for Mac OS X!

input does not work on my PowerBook. A crash occurs at the launch process in Japanese language environment. Except for them, I agree with MLaurence. The user interface is superb!
