Product Description:

There are three OSX cron tasks should be run daily, weekly, and monthly, respectively. The problem is that they are scheduled to run when most people have their computers turned off.

This free script allows you to run the daily, weekly, and monthly tasks safely, display the log and output it to your hard drive, and if sendmail is set up, have it emailed to your mail account. 24U Appearance OSAX required (installer included).

What's new in this version:

  • Reintroduced the Monthly cron task.
  • Maintenance reports are sent to your mail account via sendmail.
  • Cronathon outputs reports to ~/Documents/MaintReports/.
  • Updated user interface.

having a meaningful progress bar would be impossible, because the Unix script itself doesn't know how much is to be done - how big the logs are etc. It can be quick or slow. You could have jumps along a progress bar as it did parts of the task. That would be the sort of thing that would make this worth redoing as an Applescript Studio app. Then, it wouldn't need the OSAX - AStudio offers the built-in Cocoa progress bars, whose progressedness you can control.
