Product Description:

iPod.iTunes is the only utility which provides real synchronization of tracks and playlists from your iPod(s) to your Mac(s). iPod.iTunes saves your time because it automatically only copies those tracks which are missing in the iTunes library, excluding duplicates. It provides also an option to build a list of tracks which are not in iTunes and to copy only desired tracks from that list.

iPod.iTunes can be used to

  • keep music and playlists on different Macs up to date
  • do a full restore of tracks and playlists - i.e. after a hard disk failure
  • revert accident deletion of tracks and/or playlists, if these are still on your iPod
  • clone an iPod
  • transfer an entire music library from one Mac to another via the iPod
Tracks and playlist entries can be synchronized together or separately. If the tracks on the iPod already in the iTunes library and you only want the playlists, you can use the playlist synchronization alone.

With every synchronization iPod.iTunes creates a date&time stamped iTunes playlist containing the tracks which were copied. This gives the option to easily add those tracks to existing playlists or to create new ones from the transferred tracks.

What's new in this version:

Interface:
  • Complete new and user friendly Aqua interface with tabs for Settings, Synchronization and Tools. Twin progress bars to show work done and how many tracks or playlist entries have been synchronized. A Log & Guide area shows in black text what's currently happening and guiding messages in blue.
Usability:
  • True one-click synchronization of tracks and/or playlists entries. A mode to copy synchronized tracks manually as in iPod2iTunes 1.x is still available.
  • Playlist synchronization no longer requires the track synchronization to run before (in case the corresponding tracks are already in iTunes).
Functionality:
  • Up to 40% faster synchronization.
  • An option to give transferred iPod playlists a prefix to have them separated from other iTunes playlists with the same name.
  • Synchronization of smart playlists is an option now (creates common playlists).
  • Various smaller improvements and fixes.
Other:
  • iPod2iTunes has been renamed to iPod.iTunes.
  • New application icon (big thanks to Paul Rumens, paulr@bluecucumber.com)
Version 2.0.5:
  • Compatible with iPod firmware 1.2.6
  • Improved handling for corrupted files on the iPod.
  • Other smaller changes.
Version 2.0.6:
  • Tested with OS 10.2.5.
  • Changes in the documentation.
  • iPod recognition changed.
Version 2.1b1:
  • Compatibility for iTunes 4.
  • Compatibility for iPod firmware 1.3.
  • Small improvements.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3
  • Mac OS X 10.2
  • Mac OS X 10.1

Tried this a few times and it always lock my iPod. I have to reset my iPod every time.
No problems with iTunes. So I am guessing this a bug.

After using this product in trial mode, everything was messed up. I was hoping for identical copies of my iTunes library on my Mac, my iPod and my second Mac (which I use as a media player) . Instead I got duplicates and triplicates of music files on the second Mac, the library on my iPod was synched to the second Mac and refused to synch with the primary Mac. I had to do a full restore of the iPod and the iTunes library on the second Mac. Several hours lost.
Stay away from this program.

I had used version 2 and it worked great when I lost a hard drive. I really didn't use it for regular syncing though. Of course years later I had another need for it. I also had lost my registration number. The developer responded with my registration information in less than 4 hours on a Sunday. That is what I call great support from a product that does its job very well.
