SilverFast SE (Nikon) LS2000 CommentaryNikon Film Scanners now 100% Leopard (Mac) compatible - from SilverFast version 6.6 on - Version: 6.5.3, 6/23/2008 02:34AM PST

Good NEWS for all Mac Users:

"Starting with version 6.6, SilverFast now supports Leopard for all 35mm Nikon scanner models (and all current IntelMacs).
Nikon Filmscanner are now addressed directly without any detour through the MAID-module.
With help of the patented SilverFast ME®, Kodachrome slides can be scanned with full dynamic range up to 3,8D for the first time
(without SilverFast ME® the Nikon LS5000ED generally only reaches 3,3D)."

SilverFast SE (Nikon) LS2000 Developer NoteSF SE Nikon Version scans in high bit (48bit) mode, too now. - Version: 6.4.4r3, 8/7/2006 03:19PM PST

SilverFast SE for Nikon LS 2000 scans into 48 bit format, too. ICE is supported as well. SilverFast SE Plus allows to use Multi-Sampling to eliminate noise. This way the Dynamic Ranage of the LS2000 is significantly increased.

SilverFast SE (Nikon) LS2000 CommentarySE scans only in low bit - Version: 6.1.0r5, 11/6/2003 04:47PM PST

it's only me
The SE versions of Silverfast only scan in 24 bit. To scan in 48 bit you need the (more expensive) Silverfast Ai. IMHO, not being able to scan in 48 bit isn't worth it. With high bit output support, you'll have a lot more bit depth to work with when you bring the scan into your image editor.
