Product Description:

Chicken of the VNC is a fast, lightweight VNC client for Mac OS X. A VNC client allows one to display and interact with a remote computer screen. In other words, you can use Chicken of the VNC to interact with a remote computer as though it's right next to you.

Chicken features CPU performance throttling; an auto-scrolling full-screen mode; smart unicode keybindings; mouse button emulation and native multibutton support; tons of supported transfer encodings including Tight and ZLib; and customizable connection profiles.

This program is distributed under the GNU public license. Source code is available and contributions are welcome!

What's new in this version:

Fixed a nasty memory leak and checked all encodings to verify that none of them have memory problems.
Added preferences to modify the CPU performance of the frontmost connection independently of all other connections.
Finally fixed Tight Encoding - previously, it only worked when the server had a small screen.
More speed optimization when running under Jaguar.
Redid the scheduler to fix a problem that caused excessive CPU usage.
Added lots of internal error-checking.
Modified many default preferences to have more reasonable values - display and preferred encodings particularly. If upgrading, you will need to restore the order of your preferred encodings.

I have been using Chicken of the VNC for a year or so now. Works great.

I just read about a faster VNC client - JollysFastVNC 0.96.30 and in the few minutes I have been using it, it is faster than Chicken.

This is the best FREE VNC client I've tried. I'm connecting from an iMac Duo Core running Leopard 10.5.2 to 4 WinXP computers running the free version of RealVNC Server 4.1.2 thru a Cisco VPN tunnel and cable internet. I can connect to all 4 remote servers simultaniously too! This works much better than Remote Desktop Connection.

Many bugs have been pointed out (see forum) and still no new version. The current Chicken of the VNC is still 2.0b4 and is 2 years old.
Does it mean that this program is not maintained any more?
For me the most important bug is the keyboard problem:
For non-US keyboard, the mapping is completely messy.
