Product Description:

Frontend to pdflatex (not included) which allows inline typesetting of valid LaTeX strings in many services-aware apps (TextEdit, Mail, OmniGraffle, iOrganizeX, etc.)
Open a services-aware app, type some text like E = mc^2 , highlight it, then select "Equation Service / Typeset Equation" from the services menu. The text will be replaced by a small PDF file containing the typeset result.
You can also use this program in "main window" mode where you choose "Show Main Window" from its menubar, type some input text in the upper left field in that window, and get the typeset result in the bottom field. You can then save this PDF file, export to TIFF, or drag and drop into another app (like MS Word)
YOU NEED PDFLATEX FOR THIS TO WORK. You can get pdflatex from many places including the TeXShop website.
Please send bug reports to dougrowland@mac.com

What's new in this version:

  • USERS OF PREVIOUS VERSIONS SHOULD DELETE THEIR OLD ~/Library/Application Support/Equation Service DIRECTORIES BEFORE INSTALLING.
  • Supports drag and drop into many more apps including Word v. X, Powerpoint v. X, etc.
  • Writes LaTeX source into PDF file and can read these PDF files, extracting the source and letting you edit, retypeset, and resave to disk.
  • Supports both pdflatex and ConTeXt
  • Supports easy use of color and boldface
  • UI improvements - console log written in real-time, drawers, sheets, customizable toolbar, resizable window, much cleaner and "Aquafied" in general
  • Enabled "auto-find" of pdflatex and texexec binaries
  • Better templates with nicer bounding box behavior
  • Easy control of column width in output PDF for templates that don't provide "tight" bounding-box fitting
  • Changed service hotkey to command-/ to avoid conflicts
