Product Description:

EV Nova is the third game in the Escape Velocity series, and is by far the most ambitious installment to date. With a completely redesigned gaming engine, EV Nova thrusts you into a sprawling universe dominated by a myriad of warring factions, each sharing a common bond, but so philosophically different as to make conflict inevitable. It is into this maelstrom of territorial contention that you are thrust, like a pebble tumbling aimlessly between the tectonic fault lines that uncomfortably separate these divisions of humanity. Welcome to EV Nova. Will the pebble become an avalanche?

EV Nova ReviewMany hours spent addicted - Version: 1.0.9, 7/23/2007 07:39AM PST

Wow. What a great game. I bought this right away back when it first came out years ago - had been playing the two previous versions before it - and it is still very playable.
It is VERY addictive though - hard to put it away.
Good graphics, fast action - sometimes REALLY fast... like when you hyperspace into the middle of a fleet battle.
The game does have very complex control options which can take a while to get comfortable with.
The in-depth and involved missions and story line make each playing experience different - even after playing the game through many times. I am still not sure I have uncovered everything the game has hidden.
This is one of the best games I ever came across.

If you are a mac user (or windows) and you like space games and you like role-playing games then you should be downloading the demo right now. Play the demo and you will know that you must purchase this game.

$30 seems entirely reasonable since they're still working on it. This is the third release after all. Used to play the original all the time back in the day and this one looks even better. There is a ton of customization available too.

Having said that, there's another reason why $30 seems reasonable. Ambrosia is one of the few Mac game developers out there, and while they've grown over the years, they're still in no way an EA. They're even very friendly. A couple of years ago, they sent me their logo in EPS form for my graphic design senior project - the only question asked was if there was any other way they could help.

I have no problem paying $30 for a great game from a great company.
