Product Description:

A Java-based application allowing you to monitor auctions you're not part of, submit bids, snipe (bid at the last moment), regularly search for auctions, and otherwise track your auction-site experience. It includes adult-auction management (that is, the relevant cookies are supported), several currencies (yen, euro, pound, dollar (US, Canadian, and Australian), and Swiss francs presently), drag-and-drop of auction URL's, a unique 'multisniping' feature, a nice UI, and is known to work cleanly under Linux, Solaris, Windows, and MacOSX from the same binary.

What's new in this version:

This is a RECOMMENDED upgrade, because of a change on the eBay site that made synchronizing with 'My eBay' difficult, plus many other bug fixes.
  • Can successfully load the 'My eBay' page again!
  • cool feature:Select multiple items and select 'Show in Browser', when running with 'Use internal web server' will generate a page that has links for 'Prev', 'Next', 'First', 'Last', and indexed IDs into each one, letting you step through them easily. I use this feature constantly now, myself.
  • A new context-menu option 'Add up Prices'. It tries to add everything up in their native currency, but if any items are of a different currency, it falls back to adding them all up using the approximate USD value. For items that are not closed it chooses (in order) the snipe price, the bid price, or the current price, whichever is available. For closed items, it's just the current bid. It does not include any known shipping or insurance amounts.
  • Better display and support for eBay Motors. (Showing the title as well as the make:model usually.)
  • Added the much requested 'directional arrow' for sorting direction, in the column titles!
  • Support Spain in drag-and-drop, and with the 'Browse To' option.
  • Added New Taiwanese Dollar support, and fixed Australian Dollar support, as well as cleaned up Canadian dollar support.
  • Fixed problems where corrupted data could cause hangs or other issues.
  • Recognize shipping values again. ('Show Information' in the Context Menu will show this.)
  • Many UI improvements.
  • A newline mistake that broke Safari compatibility with the optional internal webserver.
  • Many features and cleanups for the internal webserver.
  • Fixed some nasty multi-byte problems with some JRE versions and JBidwatcher's parsing code.
  • All debug messages are now timestamped.

jBidWatcher CommentaryWhy does it try to connect to the authors website? - Version: 2.1pre4, 9/18/2009 10:40AM PST

MarkusWinter
I have monitoring software installed which tells me that it tries to contact the authors website - I would like to be asked and informed before that happens, especially as I enter my eBay password in the program.

Not happy.

This has yet to fail for me, 2 years using, and picked up lots of bargains. Not sure why its still free, as other snipe apps, that don't work, charge quite a lot and I've bought most of them... Best of all jBidWatcher is now out of beta... Try it and make your own mind up...

jBidWatcher Developer NoteSupport issues... - Version: 2.0beta7, 9/8/2008 03:46AM PST

Greetings,

Support is usually handled through the forum site, or the bug tracker, depending on the question. I respond to email when I can, but it's really not my highest priority. I prefer the other two, because answers can be shared among many users (and searched!), where email is one-to-one.

Also, if it seems like my responses are not very frequent, please understand that I do indeed have a full time job as a software developer, and a new baby at home. If you want to follow along with my development, you can visit the JBidwatcher commit log.

Give the latest version a try, report any bugs, and best of luck with your auctions!
