Product Description:

A Java-based application allowing you to monitor auctions you're not part of, submit bids, snipe (bid at the last moment), regularly search for auctions, and otherwise track your auction-site experience. It includes adult-auction management (that is, the relevant cookies are supported), several currencies (pound, dollar (US, Canadian, and Australian), and euro), drag-and-drop of auction URL's, an original and unique 'multisniping' feature, a nice UI, and is known to work cleanly under Linux, Solaris, Windows, and MacOSX from the same binary, but provides platform-specific versions for Windows and MacOSX for ease of use.

What's new in this version:

  • This is, finally, the 1.0 release of JBidwatcher, after 6 years, 5 months of development.
  • Fixed the breakage on eBays new shipping calculator format, so that when eBay does re-roll out that change, JBidwatcher will be ready for it.
  • JBidwatcher wasn't remembering its screen position and size sometimes.
  • Thumbnails are now resized if they're over a certain size.
  • Sorting now defaults to single-column sorting. If you hold control while clicking further columns, they become secondary sorts, and this no longer breaks JBidwatcher in several ways.
  • Added a 'Snipe Amount + Shipping' column at the request (and donated code) of a user.
  • Right-click behavior on unselected lines is now more in line with user expectations.
  • Slowed the rate of re-logins, to hopefully reduce the amount of issues eBay has with the program logging in too often.
  • Several start-up and shut-down freezes and crashes have been resolved.
  • Lots of multi-monitor fixes.
  • Many tab and column display issues have been fixed up.
  • Dozens of small UI improvements and bugfixes.

jBidWatcher CommentaryWhy does it try to connect to the authors website? - Version: 2.1pre4, 9/18/2009 10:40AM PST

MarkusWinter
I have monitoring software installed which tells me that it tries to contact the authors website - I would like to be asked and informed before that happens, especially as I enter my eBay password in the program.

Not happy.

jBidWatcher ReviewThe best eBay snipper out there for the Mac... Period... - Version: 2.0, 2/23/2009 07:18AM PST

This has yet to fail for me, 2 years using, and picked up lots of bargains. Not sure why its still free, as other snipe apps, that don't work, charge quite a lot and I've bought most of them... Best of all jBidWatcher is now out of beta... Try it and make your own mind up...

jBidWatcher Developer NoteSupport issues... - Version: 2.0beta7, 9/8/2008 03:46AM PST

Greetings,

Support is usually handled through the forum site, or the bug tracker, depending on the question. I respond to email when I can, but it's really not my highest priority. I prefer the other two, because answers can be shared among many users (and searched!), where email is one-to-one.

Also, if it seems like my responses are not very frequent, please understand that I do indeed have a full time job as a software developer, and a new baby at home. If you want to follow along with my development, you can visit the JBidwatcher commit log.

Give the latest version a try, report any bugs, and best of luck with your auctions!
