Product Description:

A Java-based application allowing you to monitor auctions you're not part of, submit bids, snipe (bid at the last moment), regularly search for auctions, and otherwise track your auction-site experience. It includes adult-auction management (that is, the relevant cookies are supported), several currencies (yen, euro, pound, dollar (US, Canadian, and Australian), and Swiss francs presently), drag-and-drop of auction URL's, a unique 'multisniping' feature, a nice UI, and is known to work cleanly under Linux, Solaris, Windows, and MacOSX from the same binary.

What's new in this version:

  • Arbitrary tab support - You can create and manage tabs of auctions, assigning items to their particular tabs as you go. Also the search system is tied into this, so searches will open in their own tabs if you rename the search. (Searches named 'New Search' will filter into the 'current' tab.)
  • Image thumbnails are stored and displayed in tooltip popups, and there's a camera icon next to items that have a thumbnail.
  • Selection / search box, allowing selecting auctions in the current tab by regular expression search.
  • Improved Frequently Asked Questions list, and added a table of contents.
  • Properly handling the 'Stop' button to stop updating for a little while.
  • When the insurance is required, add its amount to the shipping, if shipping is shown.
  • MacOSX users can choose to use the Brushed Metal display or not as they prefer.
  • The current user's name is shown in the time display.
  • Always create the save directory, just in case the path doesn't exist.
  • Preserve auctions XML file when saving, in case of a critical failure during auction saving.
  • Better handling of dutch auction bids.
  • Specifically support 'reserve not met' as an error condition.
  • Show information can work on multiple items at once, showing a table of data, based on an idea suggested by Florian Lindner.
  • Allow pasting auction info using the standard CTRL-V/CMD-V paste command. CTRL/CMD-Enter shows in browser, F1 pulls up the FAQ, and more minor control key changes.
  • Other minor bugfixes and code enhancements.

jBidWatcher CommentaryWhy does it try to connect to the authors website? - Version: 2.1pre4, 9/18/2009 10:40AM PST

MarkusWinter
I have monitoring software installed which tells me that it tries to contact the authors website - I would like to be asked and informed before that happens, especially as I enter my eBay password in the program.

Not happy.

This has yet to fail for me, 2 years using, and picked up lots of bargains. Not sure why its still free, as other snipe apps, that don't work, charge quite a lot and I've bought most of them... Best of all jBidWatcher is now out of beta... Try it and make your own mind up...

jBidWatcher Developer NoteSupport issues... - Version: 2.0beta7, 9/8/2008 03:46AM PST

Greetings,

Support is usually handled through the forum site, or the bug tracker, depending on the question. I respond to email when I can, but it's really not my highest priority. I prefer the other two, because answers can be shared among many users (and searched!), where email is one-to-one.

Also, if it seems like my responses are not very frequent, please understand that I do indeed have a full time job as a software developer, and a new baby at home. If you want to follow along with my development, you can visit the JBidwatcher commit log.

Give the latest version a try, report any bugs, and best of luck with your auctions!
