Multi Pro software hassles - Version: 1.1.5, 2/21/2005 07:13PM PST
HA3339
I recently have had problems with both the Minolta software (ver. 1.1.5) -- the same "unknown error" that others relate. More interesting (and a much bigger hassle) is that the reason I was forced to try the Minolta software after replacing it with Silverfast AI ver 6 (MUCH better, especially for B&W) after using it very successfully for 3 months, it just stopped loading two days ago giving me an error message (from Photoshop 7) "problem with acquisition module interface." This has only happened since I "upgraded" to Mac OSX ver 3.3.8. This leads me to wonder if the problem is with the scanner firmware. Now I am overseas (in NZ) in the middle of an enormous job, I won't be back until May, and I'm stuck unable to scan a gazillion images for the job. I have been quite happy with this scanner until now, but Konica Minolta support hasn't even bothered to reply to my queries. This sucks! Any help would be much appreciated...

Minolta Dimage Scan Error - Version: 1.1.5, 12/7/2004 01:13AM PST

Great scanner but problems with the driver. I too kept getting 'unknown error' and only restarting would temporally clear the problem. Installing the new update only made things worse so that a restart no longer worked. Minolta web site proved a waste of space when looking for a solution. However deleting the MFSLibibi (Library/Preferences/DiMAGE Scan/MFSLibibi) does work. After the troubles I'v had with Umax and OS-X I am however considering making Vuescan our standard scanner software.

Trouble - Version: 1.1.5, 6/18/2004 03:33PM PST

I have the same trouble with the unknown error and the prompt to make sure that no other Dimage software is running, but I do not have a MFSLibibit-file. I have a MFSButtonCheck-file, but deleting that does nothing. I also tried deleting the Startup Item MFSButton Monitor from my system account profile, but that didn't help either. What's more, the old version of the scanner software won't work now either even though I uninstall everything I can think of. So now I have no working film scanner and I need to scan a photo for work today. Of course I'm an idiot since I didn't scan a copy before trying new software, but there you go.
I too have a co-existing Epson scanner, but this should have nothing to do with this problem. They have lived peacefully side by side for a long time.
I have to give Konica-Minolta (at least) two thumbs down for everything about this software. From the absurd chopped-up-into-pieces installer file, to the installation with no info on what the various parts actually do and no relevant readme info. There isn't even a version number anywhere on this thing to confirm that it is indeed the correct software version.
In the future I will download suftware and check support possibility before I buy a product.

"Parameter Error" message scanning 6x8

Versiontracker's link to the US site is not very good. Go to the UK site www.minolta.co.uk. Its much better the whole file is there instead of little bits of it. Anyhow I get an errors messages when I try to scan a 6x8 neg, plus it gives me the wrong calculations 2400dpi input 300 dpi output @ 16bits = 400MB which it should only be 220MB. 6x7 is fine at those res and 35mm @ 4800 is good too. but I have reverted down to 1.1.3 until minolta fixes the bug in 1.1.4. I am using the DS scan multi pro, via firewire on a powermac G4 dual 500. No connection problems, make sure the dip switches is set to firewire (on the back of the scanner).

I have just found out how to resolve the problem:
Delete the following file from your home directory, then the DiMAGE Scan software will start again without complaint.
~/Library/Preferences/DiMAGE Scan/MFSLibibit

I purchased this scanner a few weeks ago, and am having all kinds of trouble getting the software to recognize the scanner. I get either 1 of two errors that are completely intermittent. "Unknown error. Confirm all other DimageScan software is closed.", or "Could not confirm scanner connection, please check scanner connections". I am connecting via FireWire on a G4 500 running 10.3.3. I also have an Epson firewire scanner connected, but I have added this on a seperate PCI Firewire card. I have emailed Minolta tech support twice now and have not recieved an answer. As far as I can tell this is the only way to contact tech support. The other option they list is to contact my reseller. I bought this from Macmall, so I highly doubt they will be of any use. Minolta, if you are listening, please provide a better way to contact you for technical support.

Wouldn't work on my Scan Elite II , 10.3.2 and Firewire. USB works ok but slow. What a disappointment! Minolta Tech Support says the software is too new for them to help me troubleshoot! I guess its vuescan for now.

Well
download was perhaps the most complex I have ever done. Wonder why that is necessary? But when done
My Elite 5400 works fine with G5 and Panther.

WHAT ABOUT SCAN SPEED????? Pankers
Here's how to use the SCSI Minolta Dimage Scan Speed via USB on Mac OS X (10.2.8 is what I'm using on an iMac 400 DV):
1. Get Belkin's SCSI to USB adapter ($20 if you look around). Only use one SCSI device at a time (hot swappable!)
2. Get Vue Scan ($60) from www.hamrick.com, you can try the demo first.
This really works.
Also I could use my older SCSI scanners Umax 610S and Microtek E3!

Doesn't work with Panther - Version: 1.1.2, 12/6/2003 10:29PM PST

After many hours of messing around installing, uninstalling, reinstalling, reading the discussions at Apple.com Support I have concluded that this 1.1.2 software doesn't work with Panther.
I have been able to resurrect my scanner by uninstalling 1.1.2 and installing 1.0.2.. That does work with Panther.
At least I can scan - there are several threads in the Apple discussions about Panther having simply killed SCSI scanner use on their computers.
The 1.1.2 did work OK with Jaguar.
