Minolta Dimage Scan Multi Pro CommentaryMulti Pro software hassles - Version: 1.1.5, 2/21/2005 07:13PM PST

HA3339
I recently have had problems with both the Minolta software (ver. 1.1.5) -- the same "unknown error" that others relate. More interesting (and a much bigger hassle) is that the reason I was forced to try the Minolta software after replacing it with Silverfast AI ver 6 (MUCH better, especially for B&W) after using it very successfully for 3 months, it just stopped loading two days ago giving me an error message (from Photoshop 7) "problem with acquisition module interface." This has only happened since I "upgraded" to Mac OSX ver 3.3.8. This leads me to wonder if the problem is with the scanner firmware. Now I am overseas (in NZ) in the middle of an enormous job, I won't be back until May, and I'm stuck unable to scan a gazillion images for the job. I have been quite happy with this scanner until now, but Konica Minolta support hasn't even bothered to reply to my queries. This sucks! Any help would be much appreciated...

Minolta Dimage Scan Multi Pro Troubleshooting ReportMinolta Dimage Scan Error - Version: 1.1.5, 12/7/2004 01:13AM PST

Great scanner but problems with the driver. I too kept getting 'unknown error' and only restarting would temporally clear the problem. Installing the new update only made things worse so that a restart no longer worked. Minolta web site proved a waste of space when looking for a solution. However deleting the MFSLibibi (Library/Preferences/DiMAGE Scan/MFSLibibi) does work. After the troubles I'v had with Umax and OS-X I am however considering making Vuescan our standard scanner software.

Minolta Dimage Scan Multi Pro CommentaryTrouble - Version: 1.1.5, 6/18/2004 03:33PM PST

I have the same trouble with the unknown error and the prompt to make sure that no other Dimage software is running, but I do not have a MFSLibibit-file. I have a MFSButtonCheck-file, but deleting that does nothing. I also tried deleting the Startup Item MFSButton Monitor from my system account profile, but that didn't help either. What's more, the old version of the scanner software won't work now either even though I uninstall everything I can think of. So now I have no working film scanner and I need to scan a photo for work today. Of course I'm an idiot since I didn't scan a copy before trying new software, but there you go.
I too have a co-existing Epson scanner, but this should have nothing to do with this problem. They have lived peacefully side by side for a long time.
I have to give Konica-Minolta (at least) two thumbs down for everything about this software. From the absurd chopped-up-into-pieces installer file, to the installation with no info on what the various parts actually do and no relevant readme info. There isn't even a version number anywhere on this thing to confirm that it is indeed the correct software version.
In the future I will download suftware and check support possibility before I buy a product.
