iOrganize ReviewStill a great product - Version: 6.2.3, 9/19/2009 07:18AM PST

I simply cannot agree with all the recent negative feedback. Yes, I still use version 5.5.5 rather than 6.2.3 (I prefer the user interface slightly). However, I've tried most of the note books and organizers out there. iOrganize is simply a great VALUE with a very fast straightforward learning curve.

Not all things to all people, but that may be a plus. It has met my needs perfectly for years.

iOrganize CommentaryHere's a better solution - and free! - Version: 6.2.1, 5/17/2008 01:12PM PST

As I indicated in a previous post I was thinking of switching away from iOrganize - now I've done so, and very happily. For unencrypted notes the not very imaginatively named "Notes" seems excellent <http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/9605>. For encryption try Base! <http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macos/18579>. Both programs are simple, elegant, efficient - and both are free.

iOrganize ReviewDon't use encryption - Version: 6.2.1, 5/11/2008 12:51AM PST

I have to agree with WonderJ. This is a very dangerous feature of iOrganize - enough to downgrade it to one-star in my opinion, though in most other respects I'd give it four.

I've been using iOrganize on an almost daily basis for several years through various versions but I'm thinking of switching to something else for just this reason. Until recently I'd not wanted to use the encryption facility: now I do, but I realised - fortunately in time - how risky it is. To encrypt a note you enter the password only once: it would be so easy to make a simple typo and not even notice. Then your note is gone for good - unless you try to work your way through all the possible typos you might have made and happen to strike it lucky.

And. as others have reported, BB doesn't respond to contact messages: one of those developers who's happy to take your money but then washes his hands of further help.

iOrganize ReviewStill No One Home!!! - Version: 6.2.3, 3/23/2008 10:44AM PST

I have been using this product for over 1 year. It has worked for me pretty well...until I needed support. I have encrypted many of my notes with the same password. All the sudden no passwords work. I have e-mailed several times for support to tell be if I can get the old data from Time Machine, but no one home!!!
Don't buy this product. You can not get support

iOrganize CommentaryAgree that "no one's at home" - Version: 6.2.1, 3/8/2008 06:11AM PST

I have used iOrganize for several years, and it's worked fine, but when I had some problems/questions about the most recent update, I found like the previous commentator that it is impossible to get any response at all from the author. I'm also shopping around for an alternative with some more responsive support. Any suggestions?

iOrganize ReviewDecent product but nobody's home - Version: 6.2.1, 4/22/2007 09:19AM PST

I like this program fine. It lacks a lot of features you find on other more complicated programs, but it's simple and intuitive, it has a clean, clear interface, and I found it satisfying for basic project planning, list making, and note filing.

However, there seems to be no support available, period. I bought two licenses so that I could use the program on both my desktop and laptop machines, and I was sent only one number. I can get it to run on one machine or the other, but not both. Unfortunately, this makes it useless for my purposes, as I need to access my information from both machines.

I have written several email messages to the company over the last two months asking them to help me get it running on both machines, and have received no response at all. Very frustrating.

As a result, I've been looking at other programs. I'm leaning toward Circus Ponies NoteBook, which also has a very clear, intuitive interface and has one useful feature that I had been wishing iOrganize had, which is basic outlining capability.

All in all, I like the simplicity and clarity of iOrganize's user interface better, and if I could use it as an outliner as well -- and of course get the two licenses from them that I've paid for -- it would be close to my ideal notekeeping software. As it is, though, I can't use it, and the lack of any response to my emails leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I find this application very useful. I have been using it for some years now, and it really meets my needs. Exept for one bug choosing "name notes automacly according to first line" (it deleted my note) it has been very reliable. I especially love the feature "send note by mail". Thanks, and keep up the good work.

Still looking for something to replace the program, Notational Velocity.

to test this program, i exported to text, 1500 notes form notational velocity. over a weekend afternoon, i put iorganize through its paces.

importing was not difficult. finder organized my notes alphabetically. i placed each group into a letter of the alphabet for iorganize to import-- which was accomplished without a hitch.

iOrganize can almost do it. Minor gripes. No keyboard short cut to access search bar. similarly, no keying up or down a search list.

The deal killer. once a search is performed, you cannot directly modify a note. notes can be viewed but NOT modified. That means, as an example, if you insert a date at the beginning of each note, you cannot conveniently pull up a day's (dated) note list to tweak/modify and print. The process appears to be -search- double click each note to modify--re-click the search bar and re-search. I suppose I could create a sub category to move and then modify notes, however, it seems a bit risky to move notes around for no good reason.

In the end, this program is nears my personal target-- an improved, category capable, Notational Velocity.

Before you go with a notepad/information organizer, download Yojimbo from the BBedit people and give it a shake. I found it to be much better.

iOrganize CommentaryFrustrated, cannot recommend upgrade - Version: 6.1.7, 2/4/2006 06:12AM PST

As a longtime (since 6/04) very satisfied user of version 5.0+ I was looking forward to upgrading to the 6.0 version. That is, until I noticed that with the database schema change, my 5.5.5 version "date created" fields would be overwritten to the date at the time of conversion. Since I use that field for searching, this would be unacceptable. Bruno's excuse was that "MacOS seems to prevent me from setting the dates "in the past". I'm not a programmer, so I can't verify if this is true or not, but the idea of being "stuck" without the possibility of staying current with programing advances is very frustrating. Further repeated emails from me went unanswered. For this reason, I am not recommending the purchase of this program, since an unforseen or unknown programing oversight may lead you to a data dead end.
