BibDesk Troubleshooting ReportPlease ..... - Version: 1.3.14, 1/28/2008 12:00AM PST

The automatic cite key generation is not permiting me to manually change the cite key to anything that I want (either automatically correct (when I choose OK) or enforce the automatically generatged key (when I choose CANCEL)). Please fix that for those times that I want to manually fix the cite key. Thanks .... (This is one of the best programs ever been written).

BibDesk ReviewQuite possibly the best program ever written - Version: 1.3.5, 5/21/2007 11:23PM PST

I cannot wax ecstatic enough to do this program justice. Every time a new version comes out, I am amazed at what seems like application nirvana - then a new version comes out, and is even better! I'm not even being ironic or tongue-in-cheek or anything, this program alone is reason enough to get a Mac (assuming you actually have a use for it, i.e. you're in academia)

Even 1.2 was almost perfect, this version has some cool new features (direct import from PubMed, for example works great for me)

If you use BibTex you need this program.

If you don't, you need to use bibtex so you can use this program.

Anyone who uses LaTeX at all. This makes references management a breeze. I don't know how I would get along without it.

Thanks.

Makes the usually annoying tasks of arranging references, related pdf files and urls, and the writing of the bibtex file into pleasure. The recent features of importing/exporting various formats and automatic cite key generation are great. The recent versions are very stable. The price is great too.

One of my favourite and most used pieces of software. There were some problems with a couple of buggy versions that the previous reviewers have picked up on but these were fixed very quickly. The last two versions have been back to the developers extremely standards of reliability.

BibDesk Troubleshooting ReportCurrent version quits and freezes often - Version: 1.1.6, 9/24/2005 03:06PM PST

I probably haven't updated since May or June. I upgraded to 1.16 today and for some reason it is freezing and quitting all over the place. I am going to attempt a version from the beginning of June and see if it's any better. I am having this problem on two separate powerbooks, both running Tiger with OS all up to date.

As a PhD student in finance, I've found BibDesk indispensable. It auto-files journal articles, generates cites, and helps me keep track of what I've read/annotated. Without it, I'd be significantly less productive and organized.

From the release notes: "TeX previewing no longer causes BibDesk to crash frequently"

Sure. Now it crashes *always* - and freezes when I try to quit the program, when I change the preferences, when I try to open the cite drawer... With all due respect: this update is utter *crap*.
