Product Description:

MaxMenus is a utility that adds powerful, flexible menus to simplify using Mac OS X with NO haxies involved. Always available in the corners of your display, the menus offer unparalleled ease-of-access to your most commonly used applications, documents, folders, volumes, preferences, and... well, you get the idea.

MaxMenus can be customized to your heart's content, configured to meet your every desire. You can build a menu out of any items you want and put it wherever you want. In just a few moments of set-up you can streamline OS X to fit your work habits. With MaxMenus installed you have Mac OS X finally working for you.

MaxMenus also offers the power to link any item on your computer to a key combination. And yes, it's very easy to set up. Just press the key combo while your mouse is over a menu item, presto, the task is done! So go all out and configure every shortcut you want. F8 for iPhoto. F9 for iTunes. F12 for the Terminal. You can even assign key combinations to your menus from the MaxMenus preference pane. Try pressing Option-Apple-Tab when you're done with the MaxMenus install.

We knew MaxMenus wouldn't be complete without support for drag-and-drop. So we took it all the way. The menus you set up in MaxMenus fully support spring loaded drag-and-drop. You'll be moving and copying files, making aliases, and opening every document with your favorite application when MaxMenus is installed.

What's new in this version:

  • Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5) compatibility:
  • fixed the ability to trigger a menu by clicking on the empty area of the menubar
  • fixed the ability to grab items from menus (press ⌘-G with the mouse held over a menu item)
  • fixed arrow key and page up/down navigation in menus
  • restored ability of menus on the bottom of the screen to cover the Dock
  • fixed a crash on launch affecting some users
  • Can now start multiple copies before preceding ones have finished. (To use MaxMenus to copy files, drag and drop something onto a screen corner and then select a folder from the menu popup.) Copies also now prefer Cocoatech's Path Finder, if running.
  • Compatibility with Donelleschi's Sticky Windows
  • Other minor fixes and performance improvements

MaxMenus ReviewMaxMenus is great. It is unmistakable true. - Version: 1.5.1, 6/5/2009 09:12PM PST

MaxMenus is great. It is unmistakable true.

I've been using MaxMenus for years and it's superb in use in every way.
MaxMenus has much functions that are farther stronger and more abundant than FinderPop.
And, it is a very excellent tool far used easily.
Therefore, it is wrong to compare MaxMenus with FinderPop.

A lot of friends of me and me strongly support keeping the version improvement of MaxMenus through all eternity.

MaxMenus CommentarySame like FinderPop? - Version: 1.5.1, 4/28/2009 02:29PM PST

I'm kind of wondering - isn't this pretty much the same like FinderPop? What makes this worth $30 when FinderPop is free?

MaxMenus Troubleshooting ReportFound a problem w/ MM - Version: 1.5.1, 12/23/2008 05:00AM PST

MaxMenus is absolutely terrific and it just got a plug in a Mac magazine. HOWEVER, I just discovered that it can arbitrarily, on its own, assign a hot-key to some function. For about 5 years, I have been dealing with a problem where I can't use the shift key to get a specific capital letter because it has been assigned to activate some app. MaxMenus was the culprit.

MM is a must have for me -- glad my problem has been solved.

The developer ought to fix the bad links on his website.
