I got in touch with with zonic support and we found out the problem was that I got a CD pair from a "bad batch" (the Data CD and the Game CD don't match), which is why the installer failed. They offered to send me a new copy, free of charge. True, it would have taken a month to get here (from Feral in the UK), but they were really very responsive and helpful. I just went on over to CompUSA and exchanged it.

The CD installer asks me to insert the disk "Black & White Data", but when I insert it, it ejects it without doing anything! The installation never finishes, and when I try to start the game up, it crashes at the "Tip of the Day" screen. This is really absurd. I paid 40 bucks for this game and I haven't seen anything beyond the intro movie.
It sounds as if DieHardFreeze's Black & White Preferences have probably become corrupt, leading to the crashes he is experiencing - Trashing the preferences would most likely solve the problem.
However, unless those who are having trouble with Black & White or Creature Isle contact us for help, we cannot assist them.
