Product Description:

Recently rated 5 mice by MacUser UK and 4.5 mice by Macworld, Default Folder X attaches a toolbar to your Open and Save dialogs in any OS X-native application. The toolbar gives you fast access to various folders and commands. You just click on the buttons to go to your favorite and recently used folders, manage the folders and files shown in the list, and make changes to your settings.

Default Folder also adds the ability to see zoomable previews in Open dialogs and to save Spotlight comments and set Finder labels for documents in the Save As dialog, while you're saving them.

What's new in this version:

  • Fixed Spotlight keyword saving so that it works in Word 2008 Save As dialogs.
  • Corrected a problem that caused Default Folder X to not include folders in its Recent Folders list when saving in Microsoft Word 2008.
  • Fixed the "Open in Terminal" feature so it works reliably in Leopard.
  • The exception list did not work correctly if you added an application while the "Show all file extensions" preference was turned on in the Finder. This has been fixed.
  • Setting the "click-to-copy-filenames" feature to use the control key would not work reliably because Default Folder X's contextual menu got in the way. Default Folder X will no longer display its contextual menu in this situation when you control-click on a filename in a save dialog.
  • Added the AJA Control Panel as an excluded application in Default Folder X's default preferences. It does not handle AppleScript correctly and therefore crashes when Default Folder X tries to communicate with it.

Default Folder X Developer NoteIssues with InDesign - Version: 4.0.6, 6/5/2008 05:48AM PST

To those of you that are having problems with InDesign, please note that there are documented issues with InDesign and Leopard. Using DFX may make these crashes more or less likely, but I'm afraid there's little I can do about them (I might be able to work around them if I could reproduce them here, but I've been unable to). Default Folder X ReviewStill crashing InDesign CS3 on opening files when Links panel is visible - Version: 4.0.6, 6/4/2008 10:30AM PST

Even version 4.06 has this longstanding bug: Still crashing InDesign CS3 on opening a file when Links panel is visible. Close the Links panel: all is well. Make the Links panel visible: crash. Disable Default Folder for InDesign and all is well again with a visible Links panel.
