Great, but...

Great newsreader with many nice features and ease of use, but because of following limitations and very slow development (despite I donated :), I'm seriously thinking moving to another app:
News window limited to 100,000 articles, no convenient way to fetch the remaining articles (100,000+). Very annoying since my news provider keep in some groups more than 1,000,000 articles.
Binaries decoding fails quiet often while inline browsing and saving, in particular with some multi part messages.
Articles can't be marked for later download.
no .nzb support.
One more feature request: binaries download should be recorded in a log which entries could be selectable to be saved in a .nzb file. Reason: when you download from many groups together while checking the resulting files an other day, it's very annoying not knowing from which group/date they where downloaded.
Adding these little enhancements, this would be definitely the best mac newsreader for me :)
excellent newsreader

-Fixx-Image window handling is much improved.
Interface is just right, I like OS9 functionality and flexibility. Do not make this OSX monolithic UI.
*Almost* perfect... but chokes on some images - Version: 3.5.2, 7/15/2007 06:33PM PST

vt196Now just one item remains on my "please fix" list.
I browse a lot of anime newsgroups. Some class of image found in them breaks MT-NW's built in viewer--the display routine simply bails, resulting in the display of a blank image.
But other images display just fine. I haven't any theory yet about what characterizes the troublesome images. If it would be useful to you, I could investigate further. (I used to work in Mac software QA, and so have some relevant experience)
Let me know if you would find this useful.

TstalcupAlways corrupts its article database file then takes 10 minutes to launch.
Cannot read many Yenc posted articles that MT-newswatcher 3.2 actually could.
Its free software but its only updated once per Presidential term, so live with the bugs or wait till 2008 for another version.
Always Corrupts Its Own Prefeferences

Mil MascarasMuti Threading is the coolest thing (definitely missing from Thoth).
But everytime I revert to MT-NW, it will ALWAYS end up corrupting itself, thru all iterations, on every different Mac I have ever owned, throughout all the OS's too.
I hope they can address this fatal flaw, as otherwise, I will always look for the latest version, and want to encourage updating this app. Good Luck.
I am still going to give it 4 stars, because of the history of this app development
