Product Description:

DeLocalizer will remove all non-American English localization resources. Localization resources provide the language support for an application -- all strings of text that an application uses are defined in a localization file. Mac OS X also includes non-English localization files for people who speak other languages. While this is a wonderful technique for easily bringing applications to other languages, it can use up more space than you may be willing if you plan on using no more than one language.

What's new in this version:

DeLocalizer CommentaryThe problem with MONOLINGUAL - Version: 1.1, 12/28/2007 01:25AM PST

is that it apparently takes the wrong part of, or too much of a binary.
After using it I saved nearly a Gig of space, but: iMovie, and MS Word were screwed up.
I found that Library: Printers, and Quicktime AND
System/Libraries: Printers, Quicktime, QT Java and Text encoders (the 4 english)
had been stripped of the wrong, OR too much code;

I arrived at this possible answer, when I couldnt get Word to print, and the console told me:
"MSWord failed: Couldnt find resource S/L/QT.comp.comp, but DID find S/L/QT.comp.comp, Mach-O but wrong architecture"-which tells me the wrong resource was stripped from my 10.4.11 Intel

So I reinstalled non stripped versions of the above from my Instal disc and all was well.

After using delocalizer none of my Adobe CS2 applications launch... I uninstalled and reinstalled them all, but still they will not launch. I'm going to try uninstalling and reinstalling again. I just thought I would mention it. If you have a way to prevent this from happening that I am unaware of please let me know. Thanks.

DeLocalizer Usage TipDelocalizer on Intel Macs - Version: 1.1, 8/16/2006 03:28AM PST

Well, I'd heard that Monolingual had a number of issues on Intel Macs so I was wary of using Delocalizer in case anything similar cropped up. But I read a thread on the Delocalizer forum (http://forums.bombich.com/viewtopic.php?t=6901) which suggested that there weren't any problems and so went ahead and ran the app. With no problems - that I've yet noticed. The main issue with Monolingual seems to be that it trashes Rosetta, so naturally the first thing I did was test a non-Universal app (I used Amadeus II) and it launched without issue.

So, for what it's worth, Delocalizer still seems to work on Intel, and I saved 3600MB in the process. But at the moment my advice would still be to err on the side of caution; only go ahead if you don't mind re-installing everything. I didn't have to, but considering the possibility of a new install might help you make your decision from the right perspective.
