Secret Folder CommentaryGet same from free widget - Version: 5.0, 11/12/2007 08:39AM PST

DJRizzo
You can get the same function for free (donationware) in the Abracadabra widget found here: http://www.interdimensionmedia.com/widgets/index.html

I've been using it for some time and am very happy with it. I can't see that this program does much of anything more.

This version (even trying several downloads) simply bounces in the dock, and eventually just sits there needing to have a force quit.

Secret Folder CommentarySecret Folder and Hide Folder - Version: 4.0, 11/20/2006 05:00PM PST

Its the same developer making the same product. Hide Folder is Freeware and Secret Folder is $20.00 Shareware. Why pay for it? You don't need either program to make a folder invisible. Pay $20.00 for it? You would have to be on something. Calc

Secret Folder CommentaryEncrpyted Disk Image is the way to go - Version: 4.0b, 10/25/2006 08:57AM PST

Peakdale
So, people would now it's there but wouldn't be able to get in (if you choose a wise password) - therefore an encrypted disk image is the better security tool for documents you want to 'hide' and, though I like Apimac as a company, the added advantage of the disk image route is that it will cost you nothing - Apple's Disk Utility does the job

Secret Folder CommentaryCan See the .file it makes - Version: 3.6, 1/26/2006 09:47AM PST

skippy van nostrum
If you use a program like tinkerTool and have tinkertool show invisible files. You can see the folder that you made invisible. I assume the password feature on this program works but the bottom line you can see the file/folder when you give the command to "show invisible." Thumbs down for total security.

Secret Folder Commentaryinvisible fioldres files etc - Version: 3.6, 11/19/2005 06:16AM PST

There is no need to use programs like this if you can use terminal and a bit of unix.
For example, if you use the cd command correctly to get to the right location, and you have a folder or file named, let's say, 'flowers' that you need to hide, merely type in terminal

mv flowers .flowers

this renames the flowers folder/file to .flowers. The dot in front of it tells it to be hidden, so to speak. if you run in terminal

ls

you will not see it
if you run

ls -l

you will not see it.
TO see everything in terminal, you must use

ls -a

Secret Folder ReviewSpotlight can not find a secert folder - Version: 3.1, 8/17/2005 03:38PM PST

I tried this out with Spotlight. Spotlight could not find a secret folder or any of its contents. Secret folder does just what it says does. And Apimac has excellent customer support.

This version hides all selected files, even under Spotlight. Not sure how the guy below was having problems. Works just fine for me.
