Unrestricted Access to my computer - Version: 3.0.1, 5/8/2008 07:46AM PST

I started to install version 3.0.1 (I currently have 2.10.2), but at an early stage, apparently after downloading something from macromedia, I got a warning that the application will give itself "unrestricted access" to my computer. This seems unwarranted when all the relevant data is obtained from the external Web. It should need no more access to my computer than does a Web browser. There must be something wrong, either with the conception or with the implementation, or else the download I got from clicking "install now" on the Earthbrowser home page has been hacked for some nefarious purpose. I therefore aborted the install, much as I would have liked to upgrade. I don't trust things that demand more access to my computer than they need, but at least I was warned about it.

However it still shows Chaiten in Chile as a dormant volcano, though you can see the plume of ash across Argentina...
