The developers of this app may well be providing update every few weeks for the past 3 years ..but in that time there has been almost no additional funtions added to this application ...i been using this app for some years myself so have seen all the updates and as always am very disapointed in the lack additional features.
Well Supported

Vendor has been providing updates for ~2-3 years and has always supported this very well. Ive gone back and forth between it and Fruit Menu, but have returned to Launch Items X for good reason. Bare Bones' BBEdit 8 and Mailsmith 2.1.3 have serious conflicts with the APE Manager for Unsanity haxies and other third party haxies.
This has been around since forever and I'm glad to have it as an option. I think it's worth a look in the crowded field of "launcher applications." I also have DragThing 5.x, another excellent launcher, but one not always as handy as one on the menu bar, a location that's sadly overcrowded on most Macs (if you need Blue Tooth, Airport, PPPoE control, etc. etc.)

About a shelf ... - Version: 1.7, 7/3/2004 03:19PM PST

I bought Lauch Items back in the day so keep checking up on it though I don't hardly use it (Browse Items is it). A freeware app that makes a shelf and is very customizeable is XShelf. Wait until you see the icon.
Shelf or Sidebar? - Version: 1.6.7, 4/14/2004 03:36PM PST

ffass: By "Shelf", do you mean the Sidebar attached to the left side of Finder windows? If you mean something different than the Sidebar, let me know in case I've missed it, since I'd like a shelf utility built into OS X. Typically, a shelf util will allow you to move more items to it than Finder icons, which is all the Sidebar lets you place into it. A shelf can hold clipboard items, etc. Also, most shelf utils are located on the right side of the screen.
Customized Terminal invocations? - Version: 1.6.6, 3/28/2004 02:55PM PST

I'd buy this product - or any other - if it could do what I've been doing with uwm/twm/fvwm for fifteen years:
I want a root-window (desktop context?) menu, or even one hung off of the Terminal icon in the dock, into which I can place entries to invoke Apple's Terminal with specified foreground//background colors. I know that the invocation part is possible, since TelnetLauncher can do it.

Items appear not to move when using "Move item to..." - Version: 1.6, 12/7/2003 02:54PM PST

It's not that the item doesn't get moved. It does. But, for some reason, the window does not refresh. If you were to close the window and then open it again, the item would have disappeared from the original window. Also, if you try to move the item again, you will be informed that the item already exists. If you opt to replace it, the item will disappear from the original window. Now, this funky behavior does not occur when attempting this same maneuver with FruitMenu. However, when moving with FruitMenu, you don't get the hierarchical menu. I love both these programs and, hopefully, they will be able to coexist.
likeable but not lickable

Excellent CM - well worth the outlay.
If you put an alias of 'R-Name' or another
freeware file renamer in it, it saves you
the cost of 'A Better Finder Rename' Which
alone is $20!
One request would be for the developer to
add a version number to his 'SIT' downloads.
The other would be workstrip/fruitmenu style
in-menu picture previews - but the latter is
asking alot.
Maybe not a tool for everyone, there are
other alternatives and some of them freeware.

Download a few of them and test them out for
yourself would be my advice.

Spring loaded folders combined with Panther's new Shelf feature makes moving files to another folder super fast; for me, just as quick as using Move Items X. Another Finder advantage: dragging files between drives/partitions (while holding the command key) really "moves" files to the destination in one step, while in similar circumstances Move Items X always leaves behind the original source files (only "copies" between drives/partitions).

I do agree with ffass up to a point. i will bre staying with both L&M Items. I also use Panther but don't really see what ffass means when he says
1/ The Finder's new UI enhancements make moving files around much easier than in Jaguar
I say/ It maybe improved but not enough you warrant abandoning L or M Items. the constant updating process is a pain in the A** but i'd rather that then waiting over a year in some case for software updates but i think there has to be a balance and we certainly dont have thart at the moment.
Keep up the great work Narattaphol

I use both Launch Items X and Move Items X. Both of these applications have been updated very frequently. It's great that a developer is actively improving his software. BUT...updating software is, in general, becoming a very labor intensive process. Though Launch Items X and Move Items X are wonderful apps I'm abandoning them for 2 reasons:
1. The Finder's new UI enhancements make moving files around much easier than in Jaguar.
2. Figuring out the differences between the 2 applications is very confusing to new users, and makes the constant updating process cumbersome for all. IMO Launch Items X and Move Items should be one application.
