Why hasn't there been a software upgrade since Snow Leopard was released?

Griffin PowerMate X Troubleshooting ReportConflicts with USB Overdrive in Mac OS X 10.5.4 - Version: 2.1, 8/7/2008 10:12AM PST

Greg Koster
I recently upgraded to a new iMac with Leopard (10.5.4) and was dismayed to find that the PowerMate wasn't responding. Griffin tech support suggested uninstalling and reinstalling, and mentioned that USB Overdrive sometimes seems to conflict.

Everything had been working fine on the previous iMac with Tiger.

Bottom line: uninstalling both and reinstalling only PowerMate fixed the problem. Then installing USB Overdrive once again disabled the PowerMate. Disabling USB Overdrive didn't fix it, but uninstalling USB Overdrive got the PowereMate working again. So there's clearly a conflict between these two programs under Leopard.

Bummer to have to choose between two of my favorite add-ons, but for now the PowerMate wins out.

I've had the PowerMate for 4 years and it was one of the biggest waste of month gadgets that never lived up to it's advertised promise. Don't bother with this.
