Griffin PowerMate Troubleshooting ReportConflicts with USB Overdrive in Mac OS X 10.5.4 - Version: 2.1, 8/7/2008 10:12AM PST

Greg Koster
I recently upgraded to a new iMac with Leopard (10.5.4) and was dismayed to find that the PowerMate wasn't responding. Griffin tech support suggested uninstalling and reinstalling, and mentioned that USB Overdrive sometimes seems to conflict.

Everything had been working fine on the previous iMac with Tiger.

Bottom line: uninstalling both and reinstalling only PowerMate fixed the problem. Then installing USB Overdrive once again disabled the PowerMate. Disabling USB Overdrive didn't fix it, but uninstalling USB Overdrive got the PowereMate working again. So there's clearly a conflict between these two programs under Leopard.

Bummer to have to choose between two of my favorite add-ons, but for now the PowerMate wins out.

Griffin PowerMate ReviewThis hardware and software has never worked worth it's price. - Version: 2.1, 4/12/2008 03:50PM PST

I've had the PowerMate for 4 years and it was one of the biggest waste of month gadgets that never lived up to it's advertised promise. Don't bother with this.

changing from the v1 drivers to v2 has rendered the CPU usage pulse on powermate unusable incompatability exists with menu Meters 1.3.
some liason between 2 software vendors would help!

otherwise it works fine. but without =the pulse its been replace with the scroll wheel of the mouse!

Griffin PowerMate ReviewOperates Now - Version: 2.0, 4/14/2007 04:12PM PST

Discovered the problem was USB Overdrive which had enabled the Powermate as well (as if it was a joystick.) Whe this was checked off, the device now operates as would be expected.

Griffin PowerMate ReviewStill Does Not Operate - Version: 2.0, 4/14/2007 03:59PM PST

Again tried installing this. As suggested removed all traces of the 1.6.4 installation including the kext, the previous powermate preferences file and the receipt. Fresh install. The first time it was turned the volume changed, but after that totally inoperative. Not active in any other configured application. It is as if this is connected to thin air. Doesn't work for jacks**t.

Griffin PowerMate Troubleshooting ReportVersion number/date is totally confusing! - Version: 2.0, 4/9/2007 11:39AM PST

griff--2008
I just downloaded what purports to be the official release of version 2.0. However, after installing it I noticed that the date is older than the most recent Beta (20) release. The official release version has the date March 17th whereas the previous Beta 20 version shows March 22nd.

Hello...!
