PowerGuardian CommentaryDead and gone - Version: 1.0.8, 2/2/2007 04:36PM PST

Yup, this is dead. I used it happily for a few years, but now emails to support just bounce. Website gone, replaced by half-assed 'under construction' thing. I tried calling the number, but I think I got his daughter...no reply.

Sad, but apparently the patient is dead.

All signs point to both the company and the product having deceased. Don't bother trying to download and try the product - it probably won't work and there is no support for your problems. I have used PowerGuardian a lot in the past with various clients, but it has just stopped working on the last system I know it was still functioning on, following the last security update to 10.3.9. I have seen a number of people complaining that it doesn't work at all on 10.4.

It's a great shame, as it was an excellent product, but I guess that now most UPSes have USB connections and work with the built-in UPS functionality in Tiger, there weren't enough sales to keep the product going. Shame they couldn't update the website to say this, though!!

BTW, I would love to be proved wrong in this and for the company and the product still to be going - over to BenaTong??

Good luck getting any support from the software developer--I've emailed him twice, posted to his 'support' board... and nothing.

Nothing like completely worthless product support.
