My Checkbook Reviewcan't be trusted - Version: 2.2.2, 11/25/2005 07:06AM PST

Have been using since Feb. and up to recently been quite pleased. However, suddenly it forgot my registration, which isn't so bad. What is fatal is that it also set my active accounts to 0KB and no longer recognizes them. Unfortunately my last backup was in Sep. There has been no response to my request for support. Critical information such as this deserves a stable, reliable programs, which this is not, nor is it appropriately supported.

My Checkbook CommentaryUpgrade Path for Current Users - Version: 2.0.1, 4/25/2004 11:07AM PST

Although I'm just now investigating this application's usefulness to me, I took the time to visit the author's site to learn more about it's capabilities. In doing so, I found an upgrade link reporting that for $9.95 previously registered users can download an upgrade, and that users of v1.7 and above (I'm not familiar with the version history, but it looks like there were several updates) were eligible for free upgrades. So, a user like towne, who initially paid $7.50 for the application can upgarde for $9.95, bringing his total cost for this version to $17.45 - a savings of $2.50 over new users. This seemes like a reasonable upgrade path. In fact, it's one of the few that I've had experience with that actually favors the user and forces the developer to take a small loss. Hopefully this information will stop further complaints from those who would like to upgrade, but neglected to check the site in order to do so.

My Checkbook ReviewI actually have version 1.6… - Version: 1.5.5, 4/1/2004 11:21AM PST

I like this program. I paid $7.50 for it. It does everything I wanted it to do and simply. There are a few quirks that I work around.
Now the program is and can be updated to 2.0 for $19.95 for additional features. Sorry, that's unacceptable for me. That would propel my total cost to $27.50. I have purchased full blown software programs for that price! If there were an upgrade path - for instance $5.00 for registered users I would upgrade. Otherwise I will continue to use v.1.6 considering it functions with OSX 10.3.3 (originally 10.1.5)
I recommend this for anyone who wants/needs an elegant digital checkbook. But as a registered user i will not upgrade for an additional $20.00. it is not worth that much!
