Does anyone know whether they are still in business? I have been unable to connect with their website for over a month now.

Also, I am not remotely interested in DragThing as Workstrip's replacement—WorkStrip is vastly better for what I do, and does not hog screen real estate either. Thanks.

WorkStrip CommentaryTry DragThing first - Version: 3.2.3, 6/15/2006 12:33PM PST

This is a good-looking app with nice features, but anyone tempted by it should look first at James Thomson’s DragThing, which is not only cheaper but much more flexible and takes up far less screenspace. DT allows multiple docks and tabs, includes most of WS’s features and more, and is far more customizable. Those who want serious workspaces and project planning should look at Curio.

WorkStrip CommentaryI think this app is abandonware... - Version: 3.2.2, 5/22/2006 07:51PM PST

I paid good (most would say way too much) for this software, however there are no updates, no news, nothing. The developer does not even respond to it's paying customers questions!

We badly need a Universal Binary version of this program, but there is no word about this anywhere.

Anyone who is looking for a dock replacement - look elsewhere. I did. I just paid for DragThing which is already Universal Binary even though the developer was in the hospital!

Save your money and pass on this program which is dying on the vine - sad too.

WorkStrip ReviewSimply a Brilliant and Multi-faceted Piece of Workflow Software - Version: 3.2.2, 11/6/2005 08:37PM PST

An absolute jewel in the world of work software--to give this application a cursory trial is to do it no justice as it requires that one learn its many nuances like playing the game of chess or driving a V12 Ferrari. Once you have attained a level of mastery, you WILL be rewarded with a rich set of features that only become more intuitive and further enhance your workflow. Brilliant, simply brilliant. Not for those who are unwilling to learn, but definitely for those with an appreciation of what discipline and study can bring.

WorkStrip CommentaryLocalised versions: where are you? - Version: 3.2.1, 7/16/2004 07:52AM PST

Again: it's rather odd (or, to say it more coarsely: rather unjustifiable) that there still aren't any localised versions for the latest updates, after sooooo long time; the problem could be solved quite easily, but evidently it seems to be a secondary isssue for the SoftChaos people: unicuique suum, as the ancients used to say - just don't expect to boost your international sales (and your already acquired customer base), in this way... ;-)

Otherwise, a quite good product - except for the aformentioned issue! :-)

WorkStrip ReviewGreat App - Version: 3.1.1, 4/21/2004 03:35AM PST

First, the negative: It can be a bit slow sometimes, it is expensive, is not 100% a Dock substitute (for example, it seems I need to use the Dock in order to use MacReporter), preview is not as functional as PathFinder's preview (I don't think I can copy/paste text from the preview as I do with PF), etc..
Even with all these limitations, this is certainly a great piece of software. I give it a very solid 4 stars, and hopefully future updates will address a few of these issues. At least a speed improvement would be appreciated. I keep a small WorkStrip (1 project, 3 folders, Windows, Finder, Desktop, and Home).
It is definitely a much better program that when I tried it the first time. I think it was a beta version then. I gave it another try and REALLY liked it. I hope to see more improvements in the future.

One of the very few utilities that I use everyday and for which I seem to discover more and more uses. The highest quality work worth every dollar!

WorkStrip Usage TipHiding the Dock - Version: 3.1.1, 1/25/2004 04:43PM PST

LVWolfman
Yes you can hide the dock completely when using Workstrip. In fact, it's one of the options during setup. There's a checkbox on the last step that says "Keep Dock hidden while WorkStrip is running."

If you're already past that part or want to change it later simply click on the WorkStrip icon on the WorkStrip bar (the top orangish icon with the W in it) and select "WorkStrip Preferences". Then click "Behavior". In the right hand column, second section, the last option is "Keep Dock hidden while WorkStrip is running."

The Dock is still available while WorkStrip is running, just move your mouse to just below the menu bar and the Dock will drop down from above.

Please note that this works for me with WorkStrip 3.1.1 on Panther on my Powerbook. Your mileage may vary. I have no connection to the WorkStrip people other than as a happy, paying customer.

Hacky
Is there any safe way to get the dock completely out of sight while using WorkStrip?
