Product Description:

MetroGnome is a highly customizable metronome for OS X (Cocoa), featuring many time signatures (2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/8, 6/8, 7/8, and 12/8), volume control, mutes, accents, customizable sounds, silence, and tap entry.

What's new in this version:

  • Major interface changes.
    • Subdivisions, Meters, and Visuals are now located on the main window.
    • Less often accessed settings (Sounds, Volumes, Silence, and Flashing) are still located in the settings window.
    • Main window is now a normal window rather than a tool panel.
      • It is resizable (and snaps to the content in the window)
      • It memorizes its size from session to session.
    • Tap Entry is now a drawer on the main window
    • Subdivisions: Fixed the subdivisions so that when you are in a time signature where the beat is an eighth note, the subdivisions buttons and menu items reflect this change.
    • Keyboard Control: Command-Space and Return activate the "Tap Beat" and "Start/Stop" buttons all the time.
      • Space Bar activates "Tap Beat" and "Start/Stop" buttons only when the BPM Entry Text Field is locked. Otherwise the space bar puts a space in the BPM Entry Text Field.
    • Fixed bug where you could close the main window (and not reopen it)
    • Included a Readme

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.2

MetroGnome Reviewnot too bad... - Version: 0.1.5, 6/10/2004 09:17PM PST

... for a free program ... but not too good either.

i really dont need all the features that dr betotte provides, but as far as i can tell, dr betotte is the only decent metronome for os x. i dont mean to be too critical of a free program, but how hard can it be to make it click at a reasonably consistent interval?

MetroGnome Reviewprocessor activity hiccups - Version: 0.1.5, 2/11/2004 08:26PM PST

Go get Dr.Betotte instead. MG has hiccups when there is activity with your CPU, which seems, entirely the most important thing with a software metronome. Doesn't seem to stop or start from the keyboard. You have to use the mouse to click on a button. I mean, duh! What a pain!

metronome which gives me musical ideas! On 10.2.3 the sound is very good and the pulse too. Bravo.
