Product Description:

CarraFix was written to improve the poor Internet browsing experience and slow downloads rates caused by most servers softwares on your machine or your network. Carrafix is used to accuratly control, prioritize and regulate your uploads and downloads streams.

CarraFix allows Server Admins:
  • To browse the Web and download at high rate while maintaining heavy uploading.
  • To download at full rate what the users are uploading to your servers, even when your server is uploading at high rate.
And, CarraFix allows clients (the users):
  • to browse the Web and download faster while uploading at a heavy rate.
CarraFix integrates perfectly with Carracho and Hotline by allowing full control on bandwidth sharing among users, show real upload rate and more!

Finally CarraFix brings to Mac OS X features called "bandwidth throttling" or "traffic shaping" and "Quality Of Service".

What's new in this version:

  • Great performance increase : consumes much less CPU, in particular with User Interface.
  • New Preference added : the "Priority Step" to parameter the effect of priorities.
  • Fix a bug for slow client upload : their priorities is not set to the default priority but to the one choosed by the user.
  • Added Direct Connect port and Fix Acquisition port number.
  • Check for new version online if you allow it.
  • New average calculation (mid term average, better to show tendencies since TCP is fluctuant).

CarraFix Commentarywe now have dummynet on tiger 10.4 :) more convenient/powerful than carrafix - Version: 2.7, 6/8/2005 03:44AM PST

ebricca (freecodeX)
finally we got dummynet support
its a function in the builtin ipfw firewall

as example
ipfw add 100 pipe 1 ip from 10.0.1.128 to any
ipfw pipe 1 config bw 128Kbit/s

works now use
sudo ipfw delete 100 pipe 1
to get rid of it again

keep in mind that if you set it to
ipfw add 100 pipe 1 ip from 10.0.1.128 to any
also inbound traffic is limited means inter application messaging may get hampered if you set the bw too low (terminal starts to react slow if you have as ex other webtraffic going on)

and also that the pipe limiting doesnt get reset if you just delete the pipe
so if you delete and readd the pipe the same bw limiting is set

all settings get erased on a restart of the computer :)

CarraFix Usage TipWorks with BitTorrent for me! - Version: 2.7, 2/1/2005 08:59PM PST

Jim M.
Carrafix 2.7 works fine for me to throttle BitTorrent 3.4.2. My set-up: BitTorrent prefs set to just two ports, 6881 and 6882. In Carrafix, click on Add button and enter each of the above ports, name them and enable Ul choice. Uploads are then capped as confirmed by Activity Monitor's Network graph and lack of slow-down in opening web sites. (I haven't tried using more than the two ports: I don't think I need any more.) I'm a new BitTorrent user... I just want to share interesting Mac .torrent files with fellow users but do it in the background and not slow down my Mac experience. This set-up works well for this purpose.
