Product Description:

Clone, synchronize, backup. Schedule and forget it. Try it 'til you trust it.

The key to a successful backup plan is to actually do the backups regularly. When left to a human, the task often gets tacked on to the end of a very long list of other things to do. When you eventually have a catastrophe, the data is simply gone. You know that feeling -- you just lost six years of family photos. Your kids being born, their first birthdays, their first everything. The answer to this is consistent and regular backups, placed on a schedule and handled automatically by your computer.

CCC 3 features a new interface designed to make the cloning and backup procedure more intuitive and more responsive. Users have better control over what gets backed up, and are provided with detailed information about the progress of their backup. In addition to general backup, CCC can also clone one hard drive to another, copying every single block or file to create an exact replica of your source hard drive. CCC's block-level copy offers the absolute best fidelity in the industry!

What's new in this version:

  • Included version 3.0.3 of rsync (minor bug fixes).
  • Fixed a bug in which clicking "Proceed" when plugging in a target volume does not cause the scheduled task to proceed if that task is scheduled to back up only when the target drive is reattached.
  • Fixed a bug in which extended attributes on a file would not be preserved if that file was locked on the source volume (only affected the "Backup everything" backup method).
  • Fixed an issue in which CCC would not report success if minor errors were encountered. Upon encountering minor errors, CCC now reports that the backup task completed, but encountered errors. This also permits any post-backup tasks to occur, such as blessing the target volume and running post-backup scripts.
  • Fixed an issue in which deferred tasks would run late if the machine slept.
  • Fixed an issue in which the CCC application would not launch if it was initially installed by another user on the system.
  • For the "Backup everything" cloning method, CCC no longer defaults to erasing the target device. CCC will warn if an existing OS installation on the target may conflict with the installation that is being backed up.
  • Implemented support for block-level cloning to a disk image (when the source volume can be unmounted) and improved the performance of file-level backups to a disk image. These changes represent a 2-5x performance improvement.
  • Disk image segmenting now works as advertised.
  • Resolved an issue in which choosing to encrypt a disk image would cause CCC to hang on Leopard.

Can't imagine how to do my every day's work without CCC. Every machine in our company was installed with CCC and every complete Backup is done witch CCC. I don't use the scheduler so that's not important for me. I think, in the final version that problem will be solved.

Carbon Copy Cloner Usage TipSchedules not working... - Version: 3.3-b5, 9/13/2009 04:17PM PST

Andreas..
The most likely reason for schedules not working after an update is having updated by hand. Use CCC's "Update CCC" menu item - check "Inform me of beta releases" if that's what you want, and click on "Check now". You will be guided to update any schedules correctly for the new version. If you download the new version yourself you should disable existing schedules before updating and then re-enable and save them. Using that menu item is easier! Help is available in the CCC forum.

It seems CCC is now cloning at least 5 times faster than before. :)
But unfortunately I do not get scheduled tasks to run any more. :(
