Product Description:

MacAstronomica generates sky maps at any time, from anywhere on Earth. The maps show all the planets and stars visible to the naked eye, as well as some galaxies and nebulas, the Ecliptic, meteor showers and the Milky Way. Constellations are drawn in their traditional form, and a table lists the visible objects. MacAstronomica also features an Orrery that simulates the solar system, a sundial/moon dial, and a lot more. The interface is very elegant and easy to use. And finally, MacAstronomica lets you print customized sky maps.

MacAstronomica ReviewToo little to try out... - Version: 2.0.5, 6/16/2004 12:33AM PST

This looks good at first glance but so many features are disabled I have no way to make any useful assessment of it. The one bit that is claimed to be fully working - the Orrery - has a non-intuitive and non-standard interface (in my book, using an "Eject" button to mean close window is bad design - there are perfectly good controls built in to the OS for that, but here they've been deliberately circumvented! Also, "Play" doesn't, it single steps.). Unless the author gives more away in the demo/trial version, and fixes up the interface idiosyncracies, there's no incentive to pay the license fee.

MacAstronomica ReviewNot up to it. - Version: 2.0.4, 11/9/2003 08:12PM PST

If this were freeware it might be OK. But for $4 more MicroProject EquinoX does it right, runs very nicely in demo mode, and gives control of telescopes in the registered version. There is no comparison.
