Product Description:

Install Spector on your Mac and it will record EVERYTHING anyone does on the Internet. Spector automatically takes hundreds of snapshots every hour, very much like a surveillance camera. With Spector, you will be able to SEE EXACTLY what your spouse, kids and employees have been doing online and offline.

MACINTOSH SURVEILLANCE
Imagine a surveillance camera pointed directly at your monitor, filming away everything that is done on your Macintosh. That is the idea behind the number one selling Internet Monitoring and Surveillance software, Spector.
Imagine being able to download, install and start recording your Mac and Internet activity in less than 10 minutes.
Imagine virtually no learning curve - if you can use a VCR, you already know how to use Spector.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Spector works by taking a snapshot of whatever is on the computer screen and saves it away in a hidden location on your computer's hard drive. A few seconds later, Spector takes another picture. In fact, Spector can automatically take a picture of your computer screen as frequently as once per second.

WHAT DOES SPECTOR RECORD?
You get recordings of all chat conversations, instant messages, e-mails typed and read, all web sites visited, all programs/applications run, all keystrokes typed - EVERYTHING they do on the computer and on the Internet.
You can come back to the computer a few minutes, a few hours, a few days or weeks later and SEE EXACTLY what they were doing, because Spector has recorded it.

SIMPLE, EASY TO USE
With virtually no learning curve, Spector makes it easy to start recording your Macintosh today. If you can use a VCR, you already know how to use Spector.

WHO USES SPECTOR?
Spector is appropriate for parents concerned about what their children do online, or worried about protecting their children from the dangers of the Internet.
Spector is also ideal for businesses concerned about how their employees use company computers. Are your employees goofing off too much online? Sending sexually or racially offensive e-mail jokes? Spreading company confidential information in anonymous chat and message boards? You'll find out with Spector.
And, if you're concerned about what your spouse or mate is doing online at all hours of the evening, there is no faster or more accurate way to find out than with Spector.

It says it has super stealth mode. Yes, it does have that. The super stealth mode is so powerful that the person that installed it can't even find it. It bypasses firewalls, and additionally, it sends information back to its home. One way you can find it is if little snitch is asking about "siv.app".
It takes a bunch of complicated steps to uninstall. I'm one of the few people that had any luck uninstalling it. For all you people who installed it and can't seem to find how to uninstall, here it is:

The spector application on activity monitor is called "driverSPd" First, you have to force quit that.
Show your hidden files by typing

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
killall Finder

In terminal type :
"sudo rm -rf /library/startupitems/systemstart/DriverSPd" (no quotes)
Put in your password.

Delete the files "system.app" and "siv.app" from /usr/local.
The path is literally /usr/local, (you must have hidden files shown to see it.)

To stop showing hidden files type:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE
killall Finder

You shouldn't have any problems from now on.... But isn't it a little complicated for a SINGLE app?

Now, im gonna go post this on a bunch of other websites.

By the way, DO NOT download spector. DO NOT even THINK about it. It will give you pains for the rest of your laptop's life. And the pains will cost $100

I purchased Spector for the Mac and it does not perform as the product's Web site claims. Further, the company refused to refund my money.

The Website claims that Spector will record "All Keystrokes Typed," but this is not true. It does not capture passwords entered by Macintosh Safari users, in particular MySpace passwords. This is not made clear on spectorsoft.com.

In fact, Spectorsoft's tech support told me to download and use Firefox instead of Safari because the Spector cannot defeat Safari's password-protection feature.

Spector also fails to capture keystrokes accurately. I ran several tests after being told by the company's tech support this was probably because the user was correcting his or her typing, but that simply isn't true.

Spectorsoft refused to refund my money because I didn't contact tech support within 72 hours of purchasing (not installing) the software.

I contacted my credit card company and they declined the charge. Spectorsoft then disabled Spector's license, which was fine with me, but left me unable to uninstall the software: you can't uninstall it without being able to access the program.

If you purchase this software, please be aware that it "phones home," bypassing your firewall and secretly sending information to Spectorsoft. It's a trojan, one of the leading causes of computers being broken into.

Buyer Beware.
