These guys (developers) are Korean!

I'm impressed that there are such OSX developers in Seoul.
I think I must buy a copy now, especially since Quark wants over 1,000 dollars just for their buggy software to use Korean.

MLayout ReviewWorking well for me - Version: 1.591, 5/25/2004 02:54PM PST

I have found support to be quick and very helpful. I am using MLayout regularly on a number of jobs and now I am more used to it it is stable and working well. Some of the conventions were a little different, took some getting used to. The 1.59 is a lot more stable than 1.58. It is a very versatile layout tool and has its own way of producing web output from the finished pages. I tried Stone Create but couldn’t get it to work, not helped by an arcane system of 14 day licences. I think MLayout has great potential, especially if they drop the price a bit.

MLayout CommentaryBased on Pages? - Version: 1.57, 2/10/2004 01:56AM PST

There used to be an app that claimed to do more or less the same, back in the NeXTSTEP times, it was called Pages. Are these some of the same developers, or did these guys just recycle an idea that was overdue to be implemented on Mac OS X?

Soycocoa: your point is well taken. There are a number of possibilities including poor marketing, the person assigned to answering the emails isn't very efficient or something else. But this is one helluva fine app so I don't want to discourage people from checking it out because of a couple of unanswered emails—perhaps they'll improve their customer support over time. This is a quality app; it's Cocoa, open standards compliant, and extremely capable. Since VersionTracker has this new rating system, I'll simply rate them a 'poor' on support and rate the other dimensions of the app appropriately.

MLayout ReviewExcellent for a… - Version: 1.0.3, 5/21/2002 09:38AM PST

1.0 release, quite polished and robust, feels more like a 3.0 release. Hopefully Softmagic will add more long-document features and the ability to import native Nisus Writer and FrameMaker files to help people migrate to a superior forward-looking Cocoa and XML authoring and publishing app. It supports open standards such as PDF, Unicode, XML, TCP/IP, and SQL and works with their SendStory XML editor and the consistent and durable SQL-enabled FrontBase database. Keep your eye on this next-generation publishing tool!
