Product Description:

From stunning new softcover iPhoto Books (available in three sizes) to fully customizable, cinematic slideshows, iPhoto 5 lets you do more with your photos. Then again, it also lets you work with more kinds of images: like video clips from your digital still cameras and photos shot in RAW format. Once you’ve imported your pictures, iPhoto helps you keep every photo in its place with new hierarchical folders that let you store multiple albums, iPhoto books and separate slideshows. You also have more options for finding photos: a Calendar View, for locating photos by day, week, month or year; and a search field for lightning fast, iTunes-like searches. And wait till you try the new advanced editing tools. With them, you can modify exposure, white balance, saturation, contrast and lots more. Even straighten those slightly off-kilter horizons.

What's new in this version:

  • On Tiger, images are no longer color-shifted after editing
  • (Mac OS X 10.4.2 update required)
  • Book layouts will not change when moving an image on a page
  • An issue was addressed that caused some book orders to be cancelled
  • Smart Albums will display correctly in other iLife applications

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.3.9
  • Mac OS X 10.3

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.3.4 or higher

Apple iPhoto Troubleshooting ReportiPhoto 8.1 quit on open - Version: 8.1, 9/4/2009 08:14PM PST

iPhoto is quitting unexpectedly when I open it. Using 8.1 on 10.6 (but also happened while running 10.5.8). Presume it has something to do with the library. I tried opening another library and pulling pictures from the old one but I can't do that... the old library I'm having problems with isn't available to import photos from it. (using the file/import to library...) I've tried holding down shift ctl cmd and rebuilding thumb pictures, etc. no luck. Any ideas? Appreciate the help.

Apple iPhoto ReviewIPhoto 8.0 and updates - Version: 8.0.3, 6/6/2009 05:43PM PST

The following comments are not mine alone. Go to Apple discussions and look up comments on IPhoto 8.03.

IPhoto 8.0 and updates is a huge memory hog. My Activity monitor registered in excess of 130 mb.

This new version is very slow. Since I only have 512 mb of memory most of the editing features are very slow or don't work at all. I have tried everything, except more memory, and even that might not work. I have explored Apple discussions, called Apple Tech and nothing solves it. I also only have 3,000 picts.

Though the face recognition is great, it is not worth it with this slow hog. Save your money and stay with 7.0 and or use Adobe Elements. (only uses 2.5mb of memory) Once you order the software and use it, Apple will not take it back.
