Product Description:

Macam is a package that enables you to use several USB webcams with Mac OS X. It consists of two parts: A standalone application and a QuickTime extension that enables other applications to use your camera.

What's new in this version:

Added support for SQ905 based cameras (0x2770:0x9120), although compressed images are not right yet
Added rudimentary support for QuickCam VC, image gain issues need to be fixed
Added support in the driver and application for downloading movies (without sound) [works with SQ905 cameras]
Upgraded the Xcode project to use native targets (necessary for universal binaries)
Universal binaries are now produced, although they probably don't work yet, testing reports would be welcome
Added the "-lSystem" flag when linking so that hopefully code will work on 10.1 and 10.2, again reports are welcome

This is the only webcam that Apple currently sells, and macam doesn't work with it.
Logitech didn't make sure to make the webcam compatible with iMovie and other apple applications. This is ridiculous.

I've tried to download macam.0.9.1.dmg from several different mirror sites. Every time I get an .exe file with a different name instead of the dmg file. What's going on??

Macam app works great, but can't get the .component to work. I'm using OSX 10.3.9, macam 0.9.1 and vimicro generic camera.

I have tried removing all other QT components but cannot get the camera to be detected with Camspinner, BTV, Skype, or EVOcam.

Interestingly the .component comes up as a folder - not the 'lego' looking icon as seen in screenshots.

Anyone have a solution?? I have searched the web and come accross several other people with this problem, but no solution...
