Also tried Max and XLD-GUI - Version: 2.0.9.34, 12/26/2007 10:33AM PST
decadence
XLD-GUI freezes/locks the computer while being run and even after a force-quit. Toxic application.
Does the job and does it well

You don't want to go to the dead version on the author's site. Alcor is doing something but whatever it is, it isn't Quicksilver and it isn't iTunes-Lame Encoder.
Latest version on Google code.
Lots of Intel and UTF fixes here.
Works a treat on quad intel (runs two concurrent encodings) after caching.
works great

i do notice, however that my ibook G4 runs this program much faster than my roommate's intel imac (both running leopard). very strange. also, a tagging program is handy while using this, as i notice that this version removes the last character of every tag.
otherwise, this program rules; my mp3s sound amazing.

I do notice, though, that this version runs at about 40% the speed of 2.0.8 on my Core 2 Duo 2gHz Macbook. I thought maybe I had a PowerPC version, but Activity Monitor shows it as Intel. I used to get around 12x encoding with "--preset standard", and now I'm at 4.5x. Any ideas?
