Monolingual Reviewalways good - Version: 1.4.1, 2/4/2010 05:51AM PST

Even if I currently use several languages in my everyday work, removing such a huge amount of useless data is welcome, as it does not affect the current use with languages, mostof them without any localization at all. If a certain language is used, and you need it, simply do not remove it, it is as simple as that (I do not remove Romanian, Czech and Polish, as I sometimes need their localizations...).

True, I have NEVER attempted to remove system files, just the localization files. If you do that, perhaps you DO KNOW what you do, otherwise do not blame the author for your ignorance.
‘Think twice before you type’ should be translated by ‘think thrice before you click a button the function of which is unknown to you’

I would just recommend its author to specify if SL compliant, it seems to be though!

Monolingual ReviewProblems with Snow Leopard - Version: 1.4.1, 10/16/2009 01:49AM PST

I've used Monolingual for ages and up until recently it has worked very well. However, with Snow Leopard it often hung and then crashed. I tried uninstalling all the non-Intel architectures on my Mac Pro using this and managed to cripple Snow Leopard, forcing a re-install.

Do not uninstall architectures with this utility as it does not work properly.

I got to the stage where I decided to simply get rid of Monolingual. Disk space is now so cheap that trying to slim your system is fraught with danger and for the most part, pointless.

THis program *censored*ed up the updating of Microsoft Office 2008 and I had to reinstall the program and all the updates over again. What a pain. Has this been sorted out in this version?

Monolingual ReviewGreat free app - Version: 1.4.0, 9/7/2009 03:14PM PST

So glad the developer released a version that's compatible with Snow Leopard. I've used it for almost 3 years; I run it after I download a few big software updates. I've personally never had any problems running it in Tiger, Leopard, or even Snow Leopard. I often do clean-up utilities one after the other--checking for permissions problems is my last step. And I have not had permissions problems from running this app. Only APPLE updates have ever given me that problem.

Monolingual ReviewNeeds updating... - Version: 1.3.9, 5/18/2009 02:54PM PST

still will not seek and destroy many newer localizations-esp the 2 letter ones, ie: ar.lproj;
and then there are odd ones such as qx.lproj-not a country, im sure
The Binary cleaner still unsuccessfully, it seems, tries to clean several apps, including Adobe Lightroom, parts of iMovie and several others, but never seems able to.

Monolingual CommentaryNew Version Unstable - Version: 1.3.9, 6/27/2008 02:15PM PST

I've utilized Monolingual with caution for some time now and it has always performed flawlessly. it is important however, that one read the notes and fully understand the power of this tool. That said however, this newer version appears to be unstable with 10.3.9, despite the developer's claim to the contrary. Sometimes it launches, other times it crashes with a thud, at least for me. Otherwise, it's a very useful tool, though dangerous in the hands of those who blindly unleash it's power.

Monolingual CommentaryError on Launch and Remove Architectures Fails - Version: 1.3.8, 2/15/2008 12:00AM PST

In the past I would have been happy to recommend Monolingual but as of version 1.3.8 I cannot do so. An error message is written to the Console log on every launch and 'Remove Architectures' fails trapped in an apparently endless loop!

The following Console log entries are typical of what I am seeing:-

1. On Launch

2008-02-15 18:14:01.475 Monolingual[2147] *** Illegal NSTableView data source (<NSArrayController: 0x3513a0>[object class: NSMutableDictionary, number of selected objects: 0]). Must implement numberOfRowsInTableView: and tableView:objectValueForTableColumn:row:

2. On 'Remove Architectures'

Feb 15 18:27:28 Ian-Stuarts-iBook /Users/sysadmin/Applications/Monolingual.app/Contents/Resources/Helper: fork() failed

My system comprises a Dual USB iBook (G3) running Mac OS X 10.4.11, all security patches applied.

its stops dead and freezes when it hits...........MONOLINGUAL!

IT still seems to not be able to distinguish intel vs PPC
as some Universal things stop working after using this.

plus it still can leave dozens of .lproj files behind

What the help does not tell you is that running this will cause Repair Disk Permissions in Disk Utility to hang. Bleah! Good thing I have a backup of my system before using this.

This program works fine, it is not for Newbie's. If you don't know allot bout computer and specifically OS X you will damage your system. This program works great, read the manual and understand how the app works before clicking around!
