Product Description:

efax is a small ANSI C/POSIX program that sends and receives faxes using any fax modem (internal or external). This Cocoa frontend, lets you send and receive faxes. To view faxes you can use any program that displays PDF files. Please note this is still a beta, and as such it is still changing. Be sure to check my website for all the minor updates.

What's new in this version:

  • Changed the interface on the send sheet (cleaned it up).
  • Added the ability to drag and drop on icon. Now you can select a group of files to fax, and drag it on the dock icon! This also allows you to set Cocoa eFax as one of the buttons on your scanner, and it will scan the file right into Cocoa eFax.
  • Added a drawer to the fax browser which has sent, received, and trashed faxes
  • Added the ability to choose speed to receive faxes at
  • Added more countries to the list
  • Added an option to have status window show or not at launch
  • Added an option to have fax browser show or not at launch
  • Added an option to choose what application opens files from the fax browser
  • Added the option to get more info on a selected fax in the fax browser
  •  Added the ability to check the Fax Activity Record file. This file stores info about sent and received faxes (like number of pages, phone number, names of files sent, etc)
  • Added an option to choose where sent faxes get stored
  • Will now attempt to resend a fax after a busy signal. It will attempt up to 4 times, each time waiting longer (30 seconds, 60 seconds, 90 seconds, and 120 seconds)
  • Moved around some of the menu items (some went from File to Window)
  •  Changed the default modem init string to: -iZFE&D3S7=120C0
  • Changed the icon, and added an icon animation for sending/receiving.
  •  Fixed the built-in coversheet template
  • Fixed send/receive crash
  • Fixed address book
  •  Fixed ignore dial tone
  •  Fixed manual receive
  • Fixed fax scheduler
  • Sorting of sent/received faxes in the fax browser
  • Marking of unread faxes. Right now it is a text dot (•), but I plan on changing it to an image later.
  • Other minor fixes

Sending white on black faxes makes a sender very unpopular with recipients. It took too long to update to fix this bug with 10.4, but I am glad to have it back. I had switched to the built-in OS X fax capability, but I like Fax Center better and will switch back to it now.
