I have used Fruit Menu for several years and I love it. Unfortunately, I am now on Snow Leopard and am forced to use an inferior product. When? Oh when will Fruit menu be ready for Snow Leopard??

I have tried (and tried and tried) to get information from the developer through their www.unsanity.com website. They do not and will not respond.

There is NO information posted about any of their products and compatibility with OSX v10.6 Snow Leopard. And no amount of email requests, support tickets, etc., have resulted in any response at all.

As much as I loved their products and have used them for years, the company has horrible customer service and the website is even worse.

FruitMenu Usage TipFruitMenu and Snow Leopard - Version: 3.7.3, 10/23/2009 03:41PM PST

Unlike some, I have found FruitMenu to be a reliable and helpful product. Consequently, for several years now, I have happily used it on three Macs with only minor compatibility problems (and gladly paid the appropriate shareware fees to Unsanity). It is a good product and the price is a bargain.

I purchased Snow Leopard the day it became available, but I haven't installed it on a single machine as of yet, because that would be irresponsible since I have many specialized software products that first need to be upgraded. Instead of moving too fast, I'm slowly going through my Apps and upgrading each for SL compatibility while making a list of those updates that aren't yet available.

FruitMenu will be ready when it's ready. Hopefully, so will I. Be patient.

FruitMenu CommentaryUnsanity updates for Snow Leopard are supposed to be in work - Version: 3.7.3, 10/8/2009 08:12PM PST

The Unsanity Blog entry for Oct 6, 2009, says they are developing updates for FruitMenu and their other haxies. I hope they come out a little faster than the updates for Leopard did. I never found an alternative to Fruit Menu that I liked better in the year between Apple's OS X 10.5 release in 2007 and Unsanity's release of Fruit Menu 3.7.1 in August 2008. At least my old iMac G5 is unaffected!

FruitMenu CommentaryUnsanity's communication policy :-( - Version: 3.7.3, 9/29/2009 01:19PM PST

Whether we like it or not this is Unsanity's official communication policy taken from one of their blogs: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Note: Please do not post comments and/or send emails asking about the present and/or future of things not mentioned in this post. Such comments will be moderated, deleted, or edited. When we have something to say about other products, it will be posted, and not a moment before then. Asking us about ETAs just ends up wasting both of our time. Apologies for taking such a harsh stance, but the only thing we would tell you is "it'll be done when it's done" and we're trying to prevent a repeat of the tens of thousands of comments/emails we've received asking for an ETA. Any kind of timeframe or ETA we could possibly give will be wrong and users get very disappointed when ETAs are missed. That's the nature of ETAs, they are always wrong. And due to the fact we won't release something before we feel it is ready, any ETA is even more likely to be missed."

FruitMenu CommentaryIncompatible with Snow Leopard | Unresponsive Developer - Version: 3.7.3, 9/25/2009 10:38AM PST

FruitMenu is not compatible with Snow Leopard. The Developer does not respond to inquiries.

I sent this message to unsanity@unsanity.com, feedback@unsanity.com, support@unsanity.com on September 4, 2009 with no response:

Hello,

As a long-time Fruitmenu user I really appreciate the years of use I have had with the product.

I, and most certainly many other users, are wondering about the lack of compatibility of Fruitmenu with Snow Leopard and the lack of communication on this issue from Unsanity.

We all have know about the upcoming release for quite some time. Many of us, as developers, also have had extensive Beta access to the OS. It should be no surprise to you that there is an incompatibility. Given this it is very surprising that you have not acknowledged this, commented on this, or provided a statement, that I could find on your web pages, in regards a to potential fix or End of Life for the product. I am surprised that you would risk the reputation of your company.

Please do the necessary and right thing...issue a statement. Tell your community what is going on...for better or worse. Fix it if you can or let us know you can't. Get beyond the chatter developing on the Net; these days inaction leads to negative complaints quickly.

With Highest Regards and High Hopes,

Installed Snow Leopard with FruitMenu 3.7.3 and it is no longer working. No word on Unsanity's site on compatibility issues with 10.6. Hopefully an update will be available soon.

FruitMenu ReviewCan't live without it - Version: 3.7.3, 8/10/2009 03:32AM PST

Fruit Menu is so important to me I would not move to OSX until I discovered it. I've not been a day without it since. In fact I'm still surprised that Apple downsized the functionality of the OS9 Apple menu.

Price is good, setup is easy and use is a piece of cake. What more can anyone ask for?

FruitMenu ReviewVersion update now stands at 3.7.3 - Version: 3.7.2, 8/9/2009 10:36PM PST

Unsanity just updated Fruit Menu today 8-1-09. The update runs just fine so far and if there are problems I will update my findings accordingly. I just wish Unsanity would handle keeping us informed on things a little more consistently. But that's their responsibility not mine.
