Product Description:

starQuiz is an easy to use software package that makes computerized testing a snap! You can create quizzes with multiple choice, true or false, short answer, fill in the blank, matching, and essay questions. Quizzes can include pictures, movies, web links, time limits, and more. Students can take the quiz in a computer lab using starQuiz NetClient, then see their results as soon as they finish the quiz. Or, create a web page quiz and upload it to your website. If you'd rather give the quiz in your classroom, print it out on paper.

What's new in this version:

Version 2.5.1 Fixes Problems on Windows and Web Page Quizzes
- If you save a web page quiz where one already exists, the old one is replaced properly.
- FTP now works through NAT or a firewall, by using passive mode.
- Pictures are no longer resampled. This prevents photos from looking incorrect.
- Text resources are now exported properly in web page quizzes.
- Problems that caused web page quizzes to stop working in some circumstances have been fixed.
- The text resource box now appears as wide as possible in web page quizzes.
Import Quizzes
It's now simple to import quizzes from plain text files. Just choose File: Import Quiz... and follow the easy instructions. To import a Microsoft Word or other non-text file, you will need to save it as a plain text file first.
Add Bold, Italics, Underline, or Fonts to Questions
Questions can now have sections that are bold, italic, underlined, colored, or a special font or size. This is useful for adding emphasis to questions and improving the appearance of your quizzes.
New Question Types
Short answer questions are now available, and appear to a student as a fill in the blank question but with the answer graded by the teacher instead of the computer. Matching questions are also available.
Find and Replace Feature
Find and replace words in quizzes by using the new find and replace panel. Just select Edit: Find.
New Resource Type
On Macintosh, a new resource type is available: Recorded Sound. With this feature you can record your own sound resource without using other programs.
Crop & Resize Picture Resources
You can now resize and crop picture resources from within starQuiz. Just double click the picture resource in the list and select "Crop" or "Resize" from the "Tools" button.
Web Page Quiz Enhancements
Web page quizzes have been improved with the following new features:
Resources (such as pictures and movies) are now shown in web page quizzes.
- FTP Upload: Automatically save web page quizzes to your web server
- cosmicsoft.net Upload: If you don't have your own web server, upload them for free to the website quiz.cosmicsoft.net
- Email quizzes: Send your web page quizzes directly to multiple students automatically.
- Results: web page quizzes now send back results files that you can view and analyze from starQuiz, not just text summaries.
Computer Lab Quiz Improvements
If you give quizzes in a computer lab with Windows computers, you no longer need to install starQuiz NetClient in advance in most cases. Students only need to type the server address into a web browser to download starQuiz NetClient automatically.
Printed Quizzes Include Resources
Pictures, web links, and text resources now print in quizzes.
New starQuiz Server Support
A new starQuiz Server product is now available for schools, included with the site license and district license packages. starQuiz 2.5 includes support for starQuiz Server; you can upload your quizzes with a click of the mouse through the standard "Give Quiz to Students" window. (See the manual and help pages for more information.)
Improved Change Score Feature
The new "Change Score" window in the Teacher Results window makes it much easier to review and change scores. New navigation buttons make it simple to change scores for many students at once.
Export Scores
A new "Export Scores..." menu is available when you are viewing results in the Teacher Results window. Choose this option to save a text file containing the results from each student. This makes adding the results to a non-Gradekeeper gradebook or other database easy.

I'm a teacher and i was looking for this kind of software for a long time ago. It's easy to use, there are many kinds of exercises, you can publish your quizzes to the web in one easy step. Your students have their grades instantly...
Support (by email) is very good.
The price is not excessive.

Sorry, CosmicSoft, but your history with this has been one bug after another. I finally gave up on your product.

I suggest that folks use ExamView. It's more expensive, but it's also more reliable.
