What's new in this version:

We have taken Captain FTP in for a refit and overhauled the engine. Tasks which previously took several seconds to complete now happen in milliseconds.
We taken advantage of the improved performance of the latest Mac offerings, to redesign how Captain FTP uses memory and utilizes the CPU to reduce memory leaks and directly improve performance, this makes for Faster Transfers.
While not every user will see the improvements, ‘power users’ users who are dealing with large file systems with thousands of files will see a huge improvement in performance. Navigation in large file systems can be slow and tedious but not any more. Moving between large folders can take time but in the new Captain FTP navigation is instantaneous, refreshing large file listing happen in the blink of an eye.
Even the simple task of using the scrollbar to scroll through files in the browser window is incredibly fast and searching for files taking milliseconds rather than seconds.
    What's faster in 4.4.5?
  • folder refresh (remote and local)
  • folder changing (remote and local)
  • file finding (remote and local)
  • server login in
  • file transfers
    • Enhancements:
  • memory consumption vastly reduced

See Title above - Captain FTP 6.2 will not launch on Tiger - Developer Site indicates that 6.1 is the last version with Tiger support.

really good and ease to use application from xdsnet - they have done quite well job! so much FTP apps out there - and only some like captainFTP are compatible to different servers and protocols.

i am using captain FTP also with crowznest as FTP forward to send multiple pictures to several media clients when out of office (and meanwhile also when i am in office!)

i just have to upload my pictures over mobile connection once, then put them in some hot folder - and the files run over broadband simultaneous to all defined client FTP servers.
(email is no alternative because not running directly into archive)

and if problems occur - i really get feedback and solutions back! so i can just recommend their software.

also use isoftphone from xdsnet for VOIP

Use Captain for years now but version 6.0020 is very buggy and constantly crashes especially if you use sftp.

hope it will be fixed soon as at the current stage it's not usable for me.
