Classic? ReviewI'm also disappointed… - Version: 1.0.1, 1/9/2002 05:52AM PST

by the change to shareware. I also deleted the other similar utility (forget the name) because it was shareware and this was freeware... but oh well, up to the developer... still, won't even consider buying this until a bunch of cosmetic problems are fixed. What's with the blank white chat bubble icon now used? Looks ugly as hell in launchers like DragThing. For an app that is at least 50% cosmetic that is unacceptable.

a pretty good tool is not much, and it really makes the handling with classic more easy. But, and there is a but, i don't agree with this strategy and therefore removed Classic from my system. I've nothing against to pay shareware funds for big tools (like i.e. Audion), but if i had to pay 6$ for every little helper prog that sweetens my day i would easily have to spend 600$ right away. This doesn't influence the rating of the tool. Bye Classic, i miss you already.

We are going to allow users to set the icons in a future version so if you like the green set you can use it too :-) As for a true progress bar on the icon... it most likely won't happen. there is no way to know how far along classic is... but you never know. it's no longer free because it's no longer an alpha. Cheers and thanks for the support. We have much more planed for Classsic?

a junkie. I got lured into it for free but now I gotta pay for it. No problem though. It works so well that I'm more than happy to pony up the bucks. The updates are nice but actually I liked the green 9 but Aqua is cool too. I would like the progress bar to be a progress bar though. Mine just barber poles and doesn't really show the progress. Keep up the good work.

you are too cheap to skip a lunch at McDonalds to pay for software you admittedly like is no reason to rate the software low. We have been asking for features since this software was released as a RealBasic app and the developer has done an awesome job in responding to feature requests. I didn't see your post in the reviews, when people were complaining about the icon colors, about how you loved them, so just shut-up and sit down! This dockling is great! Keep it up XGadgets!

old free version! (Especially the price, but also the color and the functionality) The new version just doesn't do anything for me anymore.

some useful features besides just showing what state Classic is in. The only thing that bothered me was, why there is there a thing to buy the program online if it's freeware? Does it unlock more features that we haven't been told about? As for MARVINBASS, as far as I can tell, the software is totally free, so don't give a bad rating just because you don't like the register option.

:) New colors and they even have a progress bar on the icon for Classic startup progress. Easy access to control panels and such is wicked too ;) By modifying the Info.plist file (the name might be a little different) for the Classic Startup app and adding NSUIElement and 1, you can hide the default Classic Startup icon from the dock. Woop. That is, if you know what yer doin in the file ;p And the icon for this app _does_ change to a red/white square after a while telling you to register. Oh well...
